I figured I had 9 outs (9 spades) to make the winning hand @ the showdown. So 9 outs x's 2, as Harrington said = my percentages of hitting a spade on the river, correct..? 18%
Or about a 1 in 5 chance, and I had to cal 250 to win a 550 pot so, 550/250= 2.2. So its a losing call or -EV as ppl say. So is my math right, or how should I be analyzing these spots, with drawing hands. And are my lines correct..? -
You played it exactly the same as I would have.

At 25/50 and 8 guys left, I don't like to play suited connectors anywhere other than the unopened blinds, even with 36 BBs. After the pre-flop call, you played it fine.
-
Okay, how do you play them in an unopened pot, in this situation..? limp, call etc.... fold/call raise OOP, fold/call raise in position etc..?
-
Fold pre

This is fine, the whole way. Folding on the turn is fine also, no need to play a big pot on a draw at these blinds. Dont listen to the guy saying dont play these hands, because they are the type of hands you will double from (with the akward stack you have at these blinds) more so than a big hand, which your opppenent will put you on a smaller range of hands.

Suited connectors are played best with deep stacks from any postion (open if first in pot) or calling late position raiser with them if you are in cutoff or on button. They can be tricky if you have awkward stack sizes involved in the hand. But they are certainly worth playing to advance your game past simple ABC poker. One note about your math evaluation. You have to factor in implied odds that you could win another bet on the river if you hit. That changes the numbers slightly, its not just how much do you have to call and how much is in the pot at that time.

It doesnt sound like you are comfortable enough playing MSC post flop. But if you were, the best play would have been to raise in the cutoff and isolate yourself against the MP limper and be H2H and in position after flop.

idk why we want to play this hand preflop with the blinds at 25/50...i don't mind it as much at 10/20 or maybe 15/30...but even then you are going to get yourself into a lot of situations you don't want to be in
As played is fine, but if you aren't confident with your post flop play and are good at push/fold later in SNGs, conserve the chips for later and don't limp these suited connectors without others limping in front of you and only during the first two levels -
looks like a $5 sng
