  1. Hi Guys
There's 4 people left in the $11+R from earlier tonight when this hand comes up .. I guess I just felt like I was ahead of I_Blade_U's range or atleast played well against it. My buddy was like why didn't you peel a flop for 300k and then check fold.. Easy to say now but maybe that's not terrible?? I just thought, folding seems terrible and I hate calling so that only left shoving.

I don't know... matterd was shoving a fair bit and probably would have been called sometime soon...and with almost 18k for first, maybe I should try and get it in a bit better.. Is this completely standard or should i wait for a better spot??

  2. Tough spot. The key here is knowing your opponents. I_Blade_U is a fellow P5er and very solid player. It is very likely with his chip lead that he won't simply call off his chips without having a strong read.

With that being said, I think he probably did his homework on you and knew you to be "green" to this type of major final table situation. The push, honestly, looks desperate. He probably put you to a range of 22+, Ax+ and figured he was ahead of a majority of your range here.

Fold - This isn't a bad option. This type of hand can get you into trouble (obv) and you have 20+BBs so you would definitely live to see a few more hands.

A flat call here is simply meh. You'll be playing OOP and absolutely not be comfortable vs. the villain barring an absolutely monster flop for you.

I like a 3 bet here to really bolster your hand. Depending on what you want to do will dictate the size of your bet. If you want to be willing to fold to a 4 bet, make it 1.25M or so. If you want to commit yourself, make it 2.5M-2.75M. Either way, make your decision easy on yourself and force your opponent to commit one way or another. Assuming you haven't 3-bet a whole lot, this really makes your hand look strong.
  3. Hey LordPye
Thanks for the response, i've thought about the hand a lot and I think you're right about my shove looking desperate. The only problem with 3betting to 1.25ish is the only times during the final table that I 3bet was all in... Not soo much because I was playing scared poker but the stack sizes just dictated that it was all in or fold...I guess at the time I figured that because Blade was so sick, he would be able to pick up that i'm 3betting with the intention of folding and would probably 4bet virtually his whole range... 5's, K10s, KJs whatever it was he might be opening with... I figured there was too many hands in his range that he would 4bet light that KQ would play fine against and would be a disaster if i mucked..

Maybe sometimes you just have to believe people though.. :-) Maybe a fold isn't that bad an option.. I knew how good he is and wasn't surprised he could easily call with the A10..

  4. this is a trivial shove for you here. blade should be opening a wide range on the button and KQo is safely ahead of it.
  5. doubt you can 3 bet w/o a shove here...you only have 23bbs you have to shove or fold, i think i do the same shove especially against a sollid player who id going to be trying to apply pressure i think hand was played fine, ul you bricked the board

  10. I like the shove, hate flatting it, think 3 betting anything less than a shove is just silly.
  11. This is a standard shove, nothing you can do about it. When we are around 20bb we are usually looking to shove/resteal, and this is as good of a spot as any.
