Just finished a 1H 20M session of 5 tabling .50-1NL on stars. Finished the session +$220. Im not really sure if these are results I can get consistantly but I hope so. I only flopped a set with my PP one time during my session and didnt really make anything off it and didnt make anything when i got delt AA or KK. It was pretty much jus playin tag upfront n taking stabs at pots from late position. I think I can make $1,500 a week or more at this level if i get in 20+ hours a week. Is that expectation to unrealistic?
-
say your 5 tabling and averaging 80 hands/table/hr
that's 400 hands/hr so at 20 hrs/week that 8000 hands per week. If you averaged 10bb/100hands that would be $800/week. If your a good cash game player you can make more than 10bb/100.
That's just a quick calculation, hope that helps give you rough estimate. -
shorthanded or full ring? and if you play 20 hours/ week playing 5 tables at a time it may be possible. If you see 90 hands per hour at each table (assuming shorthanded) thats 9000 hands per week. If you have a PT BB/100 around 4-5 which is pretty decent that would be $8-$10 per 100 hands. So you could expect to make $720-$900 per week. I think that math is right, but if its not would someone correct it for me. I think PT BB/100 hands = 2 big blinds in NL.
-
looks like u havent met my good friend mr.variance just yet... just like sngs, u need more hands to check ur hourly rate etc.
-
Yes thanks. I think I might even play up to 30 hours a week im not sure. I need to get myself on some kind of schedule im real un organized with that kind of stuff.
-
all depends on your skills and hours put in
-
I know all about variance. I am very confident I can make $1,500 a week playin .50-1NL if I never tilt and put in a few more hours a week then normal.

lol. you can definately maintain a $190/hr winrate at .5-1 lol. seriously wtf. at least pretend to comprehend poker. -
jhill your calculating 8ptbb/100 not 8bb/100. I think it's important to always clarify between the two because someone who hears that it's not too incomprehensible to make 10bb/100 and then they are under the impression according to your post that 10bb/100 at this level is $20/100 (which it is not, only $10/100) might project very unrealistic numbers for the expected earnings.
-
degenrat i said id be adding more hours to reach this goal and i was pointing out the i didnt hit not 1 big hand like set vs TPTK...i mean seriously wtf u sound like a little bitch no doubt...haters hate tho. pretend to comprehend life and dont worry about me makin money.

If people weren't insistant on using bb/100 for NL games it would be much easier. In a Limit game xbb/100 is known to be a Big Bet or 2x the Big Blind. In NL parlance it should be the same. I wish people would just use $/100 and state the buyin level, it owuld make things much easier.
$16-20 / 100 hands is not an unattainable rate for a player at the $0.50/$1.00 level. -
degenrat...i hate to say it but people like you are the ones I worry about...searching forums all day tryin to point out little shit like that to make fun of to make you feel better about yourself. As i just said dicknose is that I didnt hit ANY big hands during this session and also that i would add more hours a week playing to get to $1,500 a week. But on the real...if your feeling that bad about your life in general...go see a therapist or somethin.
-
Edit:
You do realize you alluded to being able to make 30+bb/hr after 1 session right? that's what got me going. not picking on you just ppointing out the crazyness of your original post.
tell you what sport. if you can consistently clear $1500 a week more power to you. but your post leads me to believe this is impossible for you.
you just stepped up to the game, got a passive table and think you are danny N?
it's not about hate man, i truly wish you well. You just sounded rediculous in your post. more hours and more tables can only help to a certain degree.
sorry man. don't bother replying if you don't want to. good luck. -
Its not like im stepping up to a game and just had a lucky session. Ive read every book on NL hold em ring game play...Ive took hours sweating players cards in bigger games to understand situations better...And ive beatin this and higher levels before I jus didnt make it my main objective like im considering now.
-
put some more time in. You really think it's that easy to make 90k a year? and yes you had a good session. you will have bad ones too.
aiming for the stars is great. good luck but please read your OP and see what you said. -
Dude now i know you have a problem....I jus went back and explained what i ment by my OP. I plan on adding more hours a week and pointed out that i never once hit a big hand during this time jus picked up $10/$15 pots here and there. I think the biggest pot I wont was for like $60. but anyway...Ill bet you whatever amount you want up to 1G that I make $1,500 or more a week on average over the next two months. If you got a way to track it im certainly down.
-
exactly jhill...i dont think ill win $190 every hour for 30 hours a week...I know ill have losing hours...its poker n obvv happens...degenrat has a problem
-
He is obviously excited and thats great, but I think degenerat has a point even if he comes off as being mean.
That is -- making $78,000 a year playing .5-1 is not nearly even close to as easy as passthesugah is making it out to be. Eventually a bad streak will hit, or you will just get utterly sick of playing 5 tables and be bored. That's just reality... but, I hope that you do well and make lots of money. -
2 shay I guess. If my goal is to make $1,500 a week playing .50-1 itll happen..thats all im trying to say...by whatever means it takes i will get there...period
-
Shoot
-
ok..I have to put my .02 in here....if you think you can make this kind of money at .50/1 nl gl ...don't think it will happen as others have said...they say variance...I say reality.....$1500/week, $6,500/month, $78,000/year sounds just a bit out of reach...enjoy tryin but don't get your hopes up because if you start running bad and you start playing out of your BR...bad things will happen
-
.50-1 is well within my BR i can actually play 1-2 if i wanted. a bad run will not discourage me the least bit. If you set a number out there for me like $80,000 made in a calander year from now playing .50-1NL ill get there. I jus never set up a schedule for me to play and somedays i jus wonder around it seems n play tournys that i dont stay 100% commited too and it costs me.

pass, let me introduce you to my friend mr. variance. two nights ago i'm playing .50-1 nl cash full ring game. within a two hour period i flopped second set on three different occasions only to get the money all in after the flop when another player had flopped top set. twice i got my money all in pre-flop with a,a vs opponents k,k and lost. last but not least 1 time i turned the nut str8 and got the money all in only to get rivered by a boat. by some act of god i still turned a $100 profit on the night. anyway, i guess the point i'm trying to make is that the number you have set for yourself to reach is prob not possible at these limits due to this. you can make very good money at these limits, but when you set a goal like that you'll usually start chasing that goal and when you come up short you'll starting making bad decisions to reach it. your best bet would be to just play a set time period that you feel comfortable with, whether it be 3 hours, 6 hours, rather than trying to hit a specific money goal for each session.
