  1. played 85 tournaments
    made 5 final tables
    made +$6k

..is it that doable??? this is obv a heater but can one possibly expect to make +$10k a month grinding mid-stakes????????????????
  2. No
  3. Yes if by midstakes you mean $24 to $100 buyins...

  4. yeh exactly..

    sick sick ty

  5. (Total buyins for the month) X (ROI/100) = Expected income for the month.

Assuming you have a good enough grasp on how well you play, it's pretty easy to estimate about how much you should expect to make.

  6. If you play a sick volume of say 300mtts per month, that's 10 every single day.

If your average buy-in is $50 and you have an ROI of 75% which is very good, then your monthly expectation is:

    300 * $50 * 75% = $11250.

Now, keeping up 300mtts a month and a 75% is not easy, and you will a have breakeven/losing month every now and then.

But by all means go for it, I wish you good luck!

  7. thats the thing...initially i expected atleast 100% ROI...I mean, I've got a couple hundred tourneys under my belt..but since i came to pocketfives i read all this shit about a 10k tourney sample size and what not so how can i know what to expect? so ya i guess what i was REALLY wondering was is if 100% ROI + is sustainable longterm at these levels??? isnt 100% ROI modest????

  8. I plan on playing about 450 a month for an est. buy-in of $18k, but oooh i thought it wuz standard to have a +100% roi playing tourneys!

  9. 100% is not modest, it's very good.
  10. i apologize i admit im quite ignorant when it comes to the numbers and everything!

  11. Lol @ figuring you have 100% roi after a few hundred tourneys. And 100% roi is in no way modest, it's in fact very hard to achieve, it all depends on how goot you are at the stakes you play.
  12. well i'd like to think i crush the stakes i play, my stats seem to support my theory so far..i bubble a lot of FTs but when i get there i have a sick top 2 % and i seem to be making a lot of FTs in general. Also, I recognize when i run good and everything but i pull off sick bluffs and what not and feel my game is pretty sharp

  13. What are your screen names?

  15. Ok, np. Just wanted to look you up to see your stats cause they sound pretty sick.

  16. holdin out on us eh? with 100% roi id be lisitng my SN everywhere haha jk jk.
  17. you're on a heater
     2
  18. ok..so if i was semi-decent what would i expect to make when im not on a heater??
    Thread Starter
  19. This is no set salary. There isn't a piece of paper somewhere that says "if you are good, you will make X, if you are really good you will make Y".

The real question is, if you can't estimate around how much you can expect to make from any tournament, what makes you feel that you are beating the game?

  20. you won't make that much. $5k-$7k a month is pretty achievable if you play well, depends what you're average buy in is. you will have weeks of $4k-$6k but also negative weeks so it will even out.
    2
  21. wait to you breakeven for 2 months, you don't even get a decent amount of FPPs :[, just a bunch of wasted time. you can have sick months and months you can't do anything, so don't be asking for average, it's too hard to determine really, just depends how you are running.

  22. or how good u r.

  23. GL on your continued success.
  24. how big of a factor is field size regarding variance? should i expect much much lower variance in fields of under 300? cuz ive only been playing small fields except for a cpl sunday majors here and there..and tyty much luck needed :)

  25. I'm pretty fucking good and I'm down a llloooottt of money lately in tournaments... playing great and getting my money in good the overwhelming majority of the time, after being on a ridiculous heater playing the same exact style and game...

gross downswings can and will happen, there is no way to guarantee or set an amount of profit to be made... gl to you and keep a level head

  26. tyty for the advice waco i was watching u play tourneys before i even heard of p5s, when it seemed like you and samenole went deep in tourney you played lol

  27. field size is way under rated in variance.

my feeling is that doubling field size quadruples variance. So an 800 person tourney doesn't have 4 times the variance of a 200 person tourney, it has like 16 times the variance.

you should play a mixutre of field sizes, quite a few 100-200 and then some 2k plus which can give you a big payout for small buyin.

  28. 15 tourneys a day???
  29. are you saying that's a lot? or too few?

15/day is vv easy if you can multitable on 2+ sites, especially if you are open to smaller fields and more games than just NLHE. if you include $22 180s to fill in gaps when you don't have enough tables up, it's even easier. they don't pay as much as the megafields but are a good way to keep buyins in your account for the huge MTT swings.
  30. I have recently started purposefully avoiding big field size tournaments for this very reason. Top 3 is where the money is at and it's soooo much harder to get there in fields of 2k+. I do not play the 3 rebuy anymore... can play 5 hours and make $30.
