So, with no internet poker played live last night. I have played online MTT almost exclusively since 2007, so my cash game (other than maybe playing twice a year in local casino and 5-7 days in Vegas each year) isn't as strong so want some opinions on these two hands.
1. I have about $220, table is a bit more aggressive due to the fact that more online players are playing. It is limped by two others to me in hijack, I limp with 5 6 suited. Good internet play in cutoff limps, as does live guy on button. Good internet has shown the ability to float flops, plays aggressive, and 3 barrel with air. Live guy is slowly spewing off $. The two times I have seen him play a pot aggressively he had the nuts one hand, other hand he turned a double belly buster and a 5 high flush draw on a 3 4 7 10 board with 3 clubs. On that hand (against me) he shoved the turn (about $110) with his Ax5 clubs right into my nut flush.
On the hand the flop is 2 5 J rainbow. Checked to me I bet $8 into the $14 pot. Both players described call, everyone else folds. Turn is a 6 bringing two clubs now. I lead out for $26 into the $38 pot. Internet guy calls, live guy jams and he has us slightly covered. What do we do?
2. I have about $250 going into the hand. An early limper. EL (has about $190) playing tighter than most 1/2 players, doesn't look to raise preflop. On a previous hand he flatted a $12 all in with QQ, a player later popped it up to $50 (had like $120 behind so only $70 left). He flats this, flops top set, checks other person goes all in for $70 and he obv. calls.
Mid position guy raises to $8, I flat with AJ suited. Live donkey ($130) behind calls also. Live donkey is a calling station, no ability to lay down a reasonable hand or draw. Both blinds call. $48 in pot.
Flop is 5 9 J rainbow. Blinds check and EL donk leads for $25 raiser folds. What do we do here?
I decide to call, donkey calls, everyone else folds.
Turn is a 2 bringing two clubs. Pot has $123 in it. EL leads for $75. What do we do?
Thoughts are appreciated, I am working on my cash game and live game as that is now what I am stuck to playing. Thanks in advance. -
on hand 1, i'm not stacking off 100+ BB in a limped pot.
on hand 2. i'm stacking here. he limped pf, and leads out the flop i'm gonna guess kj or qj. no one leads out with a set live. -
1. i agree, i'm folding-too many hands beat you; you have one of the worst 'good hands' (two pair or better). wait for a better spot. On a side note, i'm not the biggest fan of betting my middle pair/bad kicker (on the flop) oop with a good player and (what sounds like) a somewhat aggressive player behind me.
2. not a lot of draws with the rainbow flop, so we're usually representing some strength with the call. if villain has anything we beat on the turn, I don't think he's betting $75 into the pot-probably a check or a more pot-controlling bet.
just my two cents; gl -
1) i can see how this is a fold from u guys explanation. its still tough for me in those spots to fold two pr.. likely reason im not moving up in stakes, but.......

2) wt hands are u putting villian on here. to this particular villain, i dont know many hands we're losing too here. j9s only two pr typ hand he's limpng early, we're losing to all floppd sets but on such a dry flop and a pre flop raiser i dont think hes taking this line by leading. he's likely gonna chk call. so can u elaborate a bit more to help my understanding...

regarding hand #1 after reading OP again, I guess I don't think calling off here is horrible given the read-internet guy probably doesn't have us beat even with the call on the turn and we're good a decent percentage of the time against the other guy. I guess I'd base a call here a little on how often the table is playing big pots as well. OP states table has been aggressive-and that's not bad. if there's plenty of big pots being played (poorly, by the other players hopefully) then we've got a better chance of recouping our losses if we're beat on this hand.

regarding hand #2, logically, I can see villain betting out with AJ or slightly worse-but given the read that he's tighter than most and a big under-repping-preflop range type player I don't think we're beating most hands that he's (probably) commiting himself with given the turn bet. In fact, given this read I think it's actually a little more probable he has an overpair to the flop. Another way of looking at this is that if this is a very tight 1/2 player who underreps everything, how often are we getting all in (which will likely happen in this hand if we proceed in any way) and winning with one pair (especially where we're playing with a card on the board)?
again, I'm giving my two cents as my experience is mostly with live poker(1/2 and 2/5); but i've got my moments where I look like a dumbass as well
