  1. I cannot comfortably play more than 4 to 6 tables at one time on my laptop and I have been considering adding a monitor. I am not real savvy with computers so can any of you that use dual monitors give me some advice on how to proceed? Are there modifications that need to be made to the notebook in order to switch from screen to screen?
  2. On your laptop, there should be a button ( probably F4 ) that when pressed along with the "fn" key, will auto turn your laptop into dual display mode. Then you can drag windows and whatnot as you wish between screens.
  3. TY Lord, I do see the f4 button and it does appear to switch modes although I do not have another monitor hooked up yet. Do you just plug in the other monitor and no other modifications need to be made?

Correct. Just plug in, fn+F4 and bing, instant dual display. If you have the second monitor set up in a certain way ( for instance, to the left of the laptop ) then go to Control Panel, display properties> settings, and from there you can tell the computer how the monitors are physically arranged, so that when you drag windows from monitor to monitor, they go to the proper sides and whatnot.
  5. Ok, cool, TY so much for your help !! GL at the tables!!

  6. That will only switch you from one monitor to the other, or let you view the same thing on both at the same time. If you want to spread games across both screens, you can rightclick on your desktop and go to properties. From there you will see a options to extend your desktop to the second monitor (you could do this with even more monitors if you wished.) Once you have that selected, you will be able to have windows open on your laptop screen and different windows on your monitor screen.
  7. I have both a 24'' 1920x1200 and 26'' 1920x1200/1080p HD-TV running off of my laptop. While I use the laptop as my computer, I simply don't use it's screen. To do this, I have the VGA port hooked up with the VGA cable from the laptop to the 24'' monitor, and an HDMI cable from that appropriate port hooked up to the 26'' monitor/television.

This is a good solution, but it depends on the ports and capabilities of your specific computer. One way to find out what your machine is capable of us is to find out what type of graphics card you have, as well as what ports are available on your machine.
