Looking back at the Hand 1, my push doesn't seem very smart. With my stack size and the blinds where they were, I just didn't need to make that kind of play at that time. My biggest question in Hand 1 is whether or not Hoosier's call is correct there. Hoosier is a good player and claimed that he was +EV there because I had a wide range of pushing hands. Really though, had I pushed with any pair, any ace, any big connectors or one/two gappers, or even a crap hand like K9o, Hoosier would be at best a 60% favorite or in a coin flip situation and at worst dominated by a higher ace or up against a middle pp where he has 3 outs. Plus, I had been playing pretty tight for the previous hour and had shown only premium hands in 2 other pushes I made, so I didn't expect him to put me on a "wide range of pushing hands" there. I remember reading an article by SamENole, where he talked about how to play shortstacked and how one of the biggest mistakes people make is to push with Ax too willingly (you can find the article here: http://www.pocketfives.com/80BFB869-...FB9E9ADED.aspx). Shouldn't it be even worse to call with any old Ax shortstacked? Was he really +EV there?
In Hand 2, my push seems pretty obvious since we're 5 handed and I'm shortstacked. Hoosier again makes the call with an Ax from the BB. If his call in hand 1 was correct, then it's definitely correct here. Obv, he's a big stack and can afford a flip to knock someone out. Seems like the right play all around. No real question on this hand, but if someone thinks this call was wrong too, please speak up.
