  3. Call. Yeah, he almost certainly has some sort of a made hand, which he thinks is good, but it could be anything: 888, 777, 666, 45678, 56789. The only hand you don't want to see is T9. Most of the times, you won't.

F me just wrote long post and hit back to prior page... anyway,

First off what's the buyin/runners to geta level set?

THis hand is weird since it was limped and villain just checked in the big blind. To me this rules out the sets unless he's real trappy and had QQ here. I don't think I'd be checking a small PP 3 handed in teh blind unless I'd seen the other players limp trapping big hands to me prior. I'd raise. So I'm not feeling the low sets.

feels more like a BB special or a semibluff. 45, 9T, 2pr, or a FD where he is trtying to push you out, or some % of the time an absolute bluff since if you call and lose you are out third.

This is a case where I want to know what the payouts are and the table reads on you and him. If you call and lose then you get third place money. Fold here and you are comfortably in second with third place guy getting short. Call and be ahead then you have massive CL going into HU play.

So, how had villain been playing vs you? And what were the payouts? I'd be curious to see the ICM equities based on a fold (given resulting chipstacks).

If there is any decent pay jump I'm not sure it's where I want to make my hero call only to discover the BB special was the 9T, unless he's been shipping hands before this shorthanded and you have an idea of when he is doing it.

And lastly, when he shipped, what was your immediate Gut reaction telling you? the first thing that you felt in the gut? That's probably what the right answer was....

  5. meh youre def right is an easy call but i just felt i had such a edge on these two players i would of hated to call and see t9....

POint was if he felt he culd outplay them he doesn't need to take the chance that the guy landed 9T in teh BB. He also gave us no reads on teh other players at all - against some players aim calling withuout a moments hesitation. Against some other guys I really have to think about it. BUt we don't have that info. We don't know what villain is capable.

If hero folded just bc he was afraid that villain *might* have 9T then it's a bad fold. If his gut told hime he was beat it's another thing. I think hero is probably ahead but with outs to dodge. But I wasn't the one at the table.

OP- did you fold because you were afriad he *might* show up with the 9T? (afraid to lose) Or because your gut told yo you uwere beat?

  11. my gut told me i was ahead but i also thought do i HAVE to make this call because i felt i still had a pretty good chance at taking it down if i folded......

  13. If you feel that you're good here at least 80% of the time, call - and you're HU in 3 seconds with a 4-to-1 chip lead. You won't be in many spots where you have that high a degree of certainty to eliminate someone.
  14. lol yea "hero" call that ishhhh
  15. yes thats exactly my thoughts on why i called i win this hand it pretty much gift wraps first and my gut told me i was ahead here.
