27 Man tourn. The difference between 3rd and 2nd place is 5 buy-ins vs 7 buy-ins.
I'm SB with approx 12+K chips
BB has 802 chips
Big Stack has 27k chips (approx)
Blinds are 600 / 300 + Ante (or somthing like this, but irrelevant for this question given BB stack of 802 chips)
Big Stack moves all-in
I called with AK and I'm all-in
BB folds and still has a chip on the table - lol
Big Stack shows 6 6 and it holds.
If you were playing for significant money, would you fold or call?
(I was not playing for significant money)
I'm not sure if my call was the best decision, although I think it was very close to good, but I also think I could have outplayed the Big Stack heads up. Just wondering what people think. 2nd place was a sure thing if I had folded, but I was taking a shot at getting even in chips with Big Stack, who I believe I might have been able to outplay anyway. -
im very stuborn and play to win and very aggressive at the ft.. so i call with no hesiationj..this has cost me alot of money but at the same time it has given me alot of 1st places and that is all that i am playing for period...you will definently get mixed answers but unless it was for example a seat/trip/buy-in that paid top 2 only i will always call in this spot...just my 2 cents

Your 2 cents is appreciated. ty

Seems to me, that if you really believe you could beat the big stack HU then you arent looking at the difference between 2nd and 3rd place, you are actually looking at the difference between 3rd place and First place, which makes this a bad call....if i think i can win, why do i want to go out 3rd? I fold and wait until i am the guy shoving, not calling off, my chips....

Call

If the big stack is a thinking player he is shoving ATC in this situation. AK is usually miles ahead. This is a great place to even up the stacks going into HU play. The only way I'm folding this is in a situation where top two get seats or something like that.

In the heat of it it's going to be hard to fold, but I think you have to.
How many buyin's is first (10-12)? I think you have to look at the difference between 3rd & 1st.
You pretty much have 2nd wrapped. So you'd be playing for first with 20 bb's, not so bad.
Even if you double through big stack here, you have 24K and he has about 15K which does not give you any gaurantees for 1st.
I'd like to see some ICM on this one, but my first thought is a fold. -
BB loves you

If I think I can beat the big stack and I have a semi-decent stack (15-20ish BBs), I think I could find the fold button here. Shorty is going out in a few hands, and his chips really wouldn't make that much of a difference to me, win or lose, going into head up.

I fold here and live to see another hand. The BB this hand has only 2 choices move all in or fold and go all in the next hand. Where is the equity in calling off your stack to a shove. I mean you pretty much gave the BB the deal of his life by making the call since he was in such bad shape and needed to make an amazing comeback to be a threat at all, but congrats on shooting yourself in the foot.
