I want to organize a 4 Horse Pick'em for the $2100 FTOPS, tomorrow at 14:00est. There will be two separate buy-ins, $100 and $200. Both will be winner take all.

For those of you unaware how this works, here are the rules. You pick 4 horses from the field, prior to the start of the tournament. The position that each of your horses finishes will be added together and the person with the lowest combined score wins.
EX. Your 4 horses finish in these places: 395, 211, 99, 72. Your total score would be the sum of those 4 numbers, 777. If no one scores lower than 777 you win, if someone does, you lose.
I am adding one variation to the contest. If one of your horses wins the entire tournmanent, even if your score is not the overall lowest, you win the contest. It has to be an outright win, it can't be a chop. If more than one person picks the horse that wins the tournament, the person with the lowest combined score of all the people who picked the winner wins the contest. In the event of a chop, your horse will be awarded the position he was in when the chop occured. However, as mentioned before, if your horse is in 1st chip position at the time of the chop you will not win the contest by default, you must have the lowest combined score.
Those listed under have paid, those in bold have sent me their team. Deadline for registration is 14:00est on saturday. If you have sent me $$ by then, but not your team, you will be out of the contest and I will send your $$ back. You can either post your picks in this thread, or if you want to keep them secret until the contest starts you can pm them to me and I will update the thread at some point after the tournament starts. I will pm my picks to crazyhorse76 prior to the tournament so that I do not have any advantage.
Since you cannot be 100% who is going to be playing, I will allow everyone to add a list of alternates incase one of your horses does not play. I will allow the full 3hrs of late registration for your original horse to join before I replace him/her with an alternate. Rank the order of the alternates, 1-X, and I will replace the people on your team in that order - if they do not enter the tournament.
Send All money to qjuice14 (city Las Vegas) on either stars or ftp.

Even though I love these I don't have a hundo to blow on it. Here's a bump though, good luck.

Meh, I don't think it would make sense for one person that picks the guy that gets 2nd and have his other 3 picks bust out first hand to win over a guy whose picks finish 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th.

using finish place rewards folding to money and basically sitting out...where, using total amount of cashes rewards playing to win and playing to make the most money
actually, i don't think i've ever seen a comp like this run and use finish place as a scoring system...

But it's along the same lines as betting on pros in the main event and ranking winners based on finishing ranks. Most pros aren't even going to know about your bet let alone sacrifice their own tournament equity to fold farther into the money just so you can make a few hundred dollars.

The only way it would affect someone's play would be if you bet on yourself in the FTOPS and then decided to fold farther so you can win the contest, but that's just stupid. -
I would be in for both depending on how many else are in

It should be least points win and points are placing. so 1st - 1 pt and 500th - 500 pts
-
sorry i was saying to people who wanted it changed. apologies

i clearly was not talking about the person actually changing their play to win this bet (lol)...but just general tendencies of how tourneys work.
also, picking the person who actually wins is really really tough...and you should win the whole thing if you actually pick the winner -
I agree that total cashes is a better way to do a comp like this, but we used to do these all the time and they always used this system.

I appoligize to the few that were interested in this competition for my lack of being here to update and/or answer questions. I had to deal with a minor emergency this morning that prevented me from doing this. Because there is no fair way to continue, I have sent the money back to those who already sent me $$ along with pm apology.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience and poorly run contest. I have run LL's, 4horse, and am holding for an OT contest currently - and this is not indicative of how I normally run one of these. The situation was just unavoidable.
sorry, hope no hard feelings.
Josh.
