I don't have any real read on RF but he has not been spewy from what i've seen. Just a weird spot because him and I are fairly deep while there are 3 other short stacks. -
Fold in this situation. This is how I look at it. You still would have around 13k in chips for one thing if you fold. Plenty of chips left to win the tourney. Next time you might have the nuts if RF pulls another check raise later in tourney then you pop him.
What kind of hands would call your raise with from the sb?
Probably rule out aa,kk,qq,jj. Chances of him just calling with these hands 15%
I can see RF calling your raise with these kinds of hands Ak,AQ,AJ,A10 suited or unsuited , Pocket Pair and suited 1 or 2 gap connectors. 70%
Junk hands-72 or maybe 710 maybe 15%.
Now what does Rf re raise to put you all in look like in this situation. What possible hands could RF played a check raise on the flop?
Pocket Pair-maybe 5%- probably slow play
AA,KK,QQ,JJ- maybe 60%- but probably would have re raised pre flop
Asuited hearts,suited connectors,710-maybe 35%
Bluff for all his chips when Rf is a big stack- maybe 5%
Best case you will be ahead on the flop about 40% of the time. I can not see why Rf would risk the majority of his stack with a draw and or a bluff .The timing does not make sense. Rf called a raise. What kind of hand did RF put you on? AKus? My guess for RF's hand was 710 or pocket 2's or As hearts.
Fold is the play. -
I think your probably ahead (but only by a little), but he probably has a serious semi-bluffing hand (flush draw with a gutshot or overcards or combination of those), where it is not worth it to risk your whole stack.... its also possible he has 10-7, or a set.
Either way, its not worth risking your stack here, can definitely wait for better spots.
Hopefully this isn't the beginning of this guy going into bully mode, where he can definitely do alot of damage in this situation to you and the other large stack...
is this the final table or? where is the bubble? the closer it is to the bubble/if its the final table makes this even more of a fold. -
If I'm villian, I'm making this move with two overs, top pair, the flush draw, or a combo draw, knowing that hero is folding almost everything here except a set or KK-AA. I agree with pka that you're probably ahead on this flop, and if he has just one draw or another, you'll be getting your money in ahead.
I guess it just depends if you want to gamble a little for the chip lead. I really think you're probably 55/45 at worst here because I don't see a set playing the hand this way and I don't think an overpair flats preflop with the intention of trapping then check-raises you all in on a board that doesn't hit many hands.
I probably make this call dependant on villian's level of aggression. In terms of overall tournament equity, having the chiplead and being able to exploit the vulnerable stacks is worth more to me than folding here and being in push/fold mode in the next 2-3 levels.
Call, fist pump when he turns over J10, then pray it holds. -
I go all in.
This move almost always turns out to be a semi-bluff with a flush draw.
If he were really strong, he wouldn't try to blow you out of the hand. -
See I agree with moli and ferre on this. Everyone talking about folding is neglecting that I am going to C bet a flop like this 85% of the time and if the villain is agressive he will try to play back at me knowing this. Also, neither one mentions hands like K 10 through J10 or even flatting 109ss of 108ss and then check raising big thinking I missed but am C betting. Also, with 3 short stacks, he has huge leverage to bully the other two big stacks (which includes me). I am always going for the win in these, I don't care about moving up a place or 2. That being said, I don't see how I am ever "only ahead 40% of the time". I think i'm ahead almost 80% of the time, and many times I have him dominated.

I shoved (basically a call) and he showed KK...I couldn't bink a 5 outter and hated life for the next hour.
As played, what do you guys think about his play with KK? I dont' know if he is a good player, so I'm not sure how much thought went into it. His line is extremely weird for KK, especially in these tourneys. With our stack sizes, i think flatting pre with KK is a great play by him, just because ppl do it so infrequently.
However, on the flop I don't really understand what he's hoping for with his check raise. He's only getting called with a hand like mine(A10), JJ, QQ, sets, or big combo draws (i think). So i'm not sure I really like how big his check raise was. I assume he was trying to get max value from the hand by slow playing, but then throws that out the window on a fairly rag flop.
With my specific hand, his line plays perfectly and is actually pretty interesting. -
His play w/ KK seems really bad to me at this point in the tourney, w/ 2 short stacks why risk getting your KK busted & stack crippled? I think you were just unlucky to be holding A 10, any other 10 would be fairly easy to get away from. As played I call.
