  1. Background: I had been playing several hours with my stack going up and down. I was seen as very loose. The villian had a huge stack and was playing almost everyhand. I had seen him call down 3 bets with AK for Ahigh and lose 400.
    Me-420
    Villian-900

Max bet in this game is $150

I am 2 from button and its folded to me I make it $25 with 8Ts (i know not a great hand but I am taking down most pots with Cbet on flop)

    Villian on button calls.

    Flop
    9JQ rainbow
    I lead out for $40
Villian min raises to $80 I didn't really stop to consider what his min raise meant.
I reraised Max for $220 more. My thought here are his range is large and I want the money in fast. Figured he could have TPTK, 2pair, Pair and str8draw or set.
He reraised to put me all in and I am pot commited for my last $150 I think

Obv what he showed was KT.

? is there a way to correctly not go broke here with this structure or is this just a cooler in a HU pot.
  2. First off, don't play spread limit holdem if you can help it. I hate the game and have minimal experience, but I'll do my best.
I assume the blinds are either 2/5 or 3/5 in this game? 5 times the big blind seem to be inviting everyone folding or playing back at you with a much better hand.

Secondly this is NOT a good hand to try and steal with. If you get lucky and hit it, which you did, most of the ways you can hit it make the nuts a hand that people would frequently call your raise with, such as K10, so in a sense you are asking to take down a small pot or get broke. If you like suited connectors you are much better off making the same play with 56 suited or even 27 offsuit, since if it comes 229 or something no one would put you on it.

I would encourage you to take the time and write down the combinations of cards that would flop to make 2 pair or better for you that isn't the nuts. Now write down what hands make a hand that beats yours. Most of them are hands that people would call a raise with aren't they?

Second problem is you KNOW the most likely person to call here has the button, and is very hard to put on a hand because he has a huge range. Do you really want to play any pot with any hand other than the nuts out of position against this type of player? You said you took down a lot of pots Cbetting on the flop, but you also said he would call 3 bets down with ace high! What are you planning on doing on the turn if this pot goes the way you expect it to?

Having said that, I think what happened from the flop on doesn't really matter. Your reason for playing the 810 seems to say that you are playing your opponents cards more than you play yours which is important if you want to take the step from good player to great player. The best thing you can do for yourself is to work on your timing and try to pick profitable spots to play hands.
