    Im going to rio de janeiro this monday and i was just wondering how to find some games while I'm there. I understand that there aren't any casinos, but from what I hear there are "public" cardrooms around.I don't understand how they have no casinos but they had a LAPT event.... Has anyone been to Rio and successfully played in some cash games? Is it dangerous? (I'm not looking to win, just to be robbed on the way out)

    ANY help is greatly appreciated...thanks

    I live in Sao Paulo at the moment and there are a bunch of safe live clubs here. However, I've heard the club in Rio are much more underground and run by the mafia... prol not the best place for a gringoe with money to be.

    However, you could try make a post on the maisev dot com forum via google translate as they usually have all the answers to these questions.

    Also, the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP dot com dot br) event is coming up in Rio in 13 days time and is sure to be great. You can qualify on Full Tilt (if can show you are in Brazil) or possibly buy-in directly online too under their Live events tab.
