  1. i was talking with a friend on AIM earlier this week about the 5-10 hands i thought changed my poker carrer. Now im mostly a sng player so i may not have the most intresting Hands but the majorty of big hands come from MTTers and especially at final tables. Some may be bad beat others may be some sick dodges of 20 outers some may be a brutal suckout that u gave.

Most importantly name some hands u can still remember being ones that have affected or changed the route of ur poker carrer the most.
  2. Q-9

During my first MTT win on the first hand of HU I was dealt Q-9 and turned a straight flush. I already had a nice chip lead but this gave me an 11-1 chiplead and very easily took it down after that.

    K-K

In a live $2/$3 NL cash session at Hawaiian Gardens I folded KK preflop for the first time in my poker career. I will spare you all the details of the hand but I was right as one of the two guys that got it AIPF had AA. It's still the only time online or live I've folded KK preflop but that read gave me a ton of confidence.
  3. Had QJo in the bb my first time to play in a casino, str8 flopped the joint and dude is just pounding away at me. It holds and I win my first huge pot.
  4. Two tables left in a wsop event 17 players. I'm dealt QQ utg blinds are 1000 2000 i make it 6000 with around 40k behind, folds around to the bb who makes it 20k, I shove he calls with AKos flop comes KQT turn Q ding ding i have 100k second only to jc tran with 16 left.
  5. i once sucked out on jalman in a heads up PL holdem sng, needless to say my poker career changed forever
  6. 77 in a 5 dollar rebuy on party i got it all in PF vs AA KK and JJ board blanked until a 7 hit on the river- I went on to take 3rd for 2K
  7. intresting topic

    Hand i lost

5-10 NL had 33 floped a set on a board of Ace 10 3. Usually an agressive player decided to just call the guy C-bet. Turn Jack, we get our money in, he has KQ. For whatever reason i remmeber that hand as the hand that started me playing really really bad for a long time.
  8. Just took down the Bicycle Club Player Appreciation Tourney [622 players].
Key hand. I have a slightly below average stack.
Shortish stack shoves all in with what turns out to be A-Q,
I come over the top to isolate with A-K.
Chip leader at my table CALLS with K-Q [wtf?]

    Flop is K-Q-10.
    Turn is meaningless.
    River is a J.

I never had a problem after that.
  9. Not really huge hands as far as big wins, but more for the accomplishments.

I still remember the first time I folded AA postflop. Three way pot with a flop of KKx. The way they were playing it was obvious that someone had the K, so I folded my AA. The other two went to showdown and sure enough, one player had the K.

Another time, I was 3-handed in a 6-man SNG (top 2 get paid). The button raised and I reraised in the BB with 88. He called and the flop came AJ3 with two hearts (I did not have the 8h). He calls my c-bet and we both check the 4h on the turn. River is the 5d. I have about the same as the pot left in my stack. I check and he pushes. I make the call, he flips over KQo, and I take a big pot. May not have been the first sick call I've made, but it's one that sticks out.
  10. since its my thread ill put down some of the key/memorable ones

    1. Getting knocked out JJ vs AJ with 8 left in the old midnight party tournament when first was 2900 and i had like 500 in my roll. He rivered an Ace and i still remember that as the fist brutal beat i ever took. this was about 2 years ago

    2. beating Allen cunningham in two straight HU sngs. Including me trapping him with AJ vs A6 on a A J 2 board and had him drawing dead on the flop

    3. in the last FTOPS event 1 i played a great super ninja stack from 1800 people all the way down to 300 left. The guy who was to my right was pushing my shitty stack in every time and i was getting nothing to call him with. I finally pick up AQ in the BB and he jams my 12 BBs in and wakes up with AK........one of the roughest coolers i have ever gotten simply because of how many time he did this play with junk

    4. in the 215 HU matches last week with 16 people left i played a hand vs XtheSteinX. he some how did not go broke with 44 vs 55 on a Q 2 4 5 board after he decided to check behind me on the turn after i tripped up on him. If he doesnt check behind me (which i still hate) he goes broke on my check raise. Well the river was a blank and he decided to just flat with 4th set on a non flush board to my 3/4 river bet. WHATEVER and and instead of winning 700 $ i advance to the next round and automatically get 1800 $ and 3 more HU wins from 14k

    5. about 4 months ago in thr midnight turbo hundo with 4 people left. the guy on the button jams A9 (fast structure) and i call in the BB with AQ . anyway he turns a 9 for the good ole 3 outer and instead of having 75 % of the chips in play 3 handed i get knocked out in 4th place for 1750 $ when 1st place was 5k.

  11. jalman, you should've led the 555 and then slowrolled xthesteinx when he came over the top all in
  12. I had a hand at the casino that was similar.... dealt KsKd from the button $1/$2 NL , 2 limpers and I raise to $12 ... 3 callers... flop comes 2s3s4d... the SB pushes all-in for $65 more, the maniac of the table smooth calls, then the guy to my right pushes all-in for $80 total... I mucked my Kings... SB turns over 33, maniac turns over 54 and guy to my right turns over 24... that flop hit everyone at the table, was pretty sick
  13. This hand was huge for me. 3 handed in the $20+R I was the shortstack and had to make a move soon. I got real lucky this hand and came back to win the tourney.

    Hand #448

  15. The #1 pivitol hand in my career was POCKET 5s!!!!

In the FTOPs event I FTed in, I picked up this wonderful hand in the late stage of the tourney. Donkishly got it all in against an over, and yes, spiked the 5 on the flop to bust an almost equal stack.

Then I coasted to the FT to go out in true donkey shit style in 4th. For 27k.
  16. AQ to A9 versus GF_PLAYA w/ thirteen left in the million :(

  17. I know its not a huge suckout, but after this I never got all in behind again, and with my $3 BR at the time, I went on to win $500 in this freeroll and have never looked back (well i guess i did here).

  18. Lost with pocket aces with A on turn to river straight at 2006 wsop ( close to money ). Lost with pocket Kings at wsop circuit ME at Caesars in Atlantic City. Ally Prescott flopped QQQ and we both lost to guy in big blind who won with a river flush.
  19. 1. 3-4 years ago last 2 tables in a tournament at Hawaiian Gardens, I was 3rd or 4th in chips and ended up getting it all-in pre-flop with AK against his AA and lost. I learned an obvious but important leson.

    2. 2 years ago. Scarily similar to Sicktight's KK hand at Hawaiian Gardens, same place, same limit, same hand. I had been playing with the guy for like 5 hours and we each had more than $700 and in was on an absolute tear over the past couple of hours. I made it 12 UTG, he made it 40 from late position, I made it 120 or 140 and he went all-in. He starting saying things like "your running so hot, I don't even know if I want you to call". Also I knew the money meant a lot to him and about an hour before the hand he even joked to me and another guy who also had a lot of chips that he didn't want to tangle with us without the nuts(we were all staying there really late and nobody left the table for hours because one guy literally lost $1500 in a $100 buy-in game). So after about 3 minutes of thought I folded and he showed me the AA. It is still the only time that I have done it and it gave me a massive boost in confidence.

  20. I've got two hands I think qualify here.

Was playing in the 100k guar. on paradise about 2 years ago - had 300 bucks in my acocunt and said i was going to play this tourney and when i lost, would quit playing online poker (was 22, our of college, and had no job) and find a real job.

Work my way half way through the tourney and come to a tough decision - deal 1010 utg with about 15k in chips. three players end up all in pre flop and the action comes back to me (iu'm covered about 2:1). With the chance to quad up i cacll - all three players turn over AK, and i become the 8th placer in the tourney (out of 30ish i think)

An hour later on the bubble for the final table, i get 24 clubs (about 40k in chips) and raise, some guy in mid position re-pops me (he has about the same amount). I think for a bit and think he is making a move so I move in. He thinks and calls me down with pocket 55s. I spike a donk flush on the river and move into 1st place in chips in the tourney.

I go on to domiate the final table and never give up the top spot and win 29k. Everytime i see 24 clubs i play it now. Biggest win of my poker career and gave me the funds to spend time on the job search.

Oh, and I won with J5 hearts heads up.
  21. On the bubble in the freroll that won me $9: AQ vs AK all in pre. Board KxxJT. Ship it!!

Without that hand I probably wouldnt have a poker career now.

  22. I used to be a 5-10, 10-20 NL player on pokerroom 3 years back(while I was in high school lol) and one night I had SEVERE monkey tilt after losing about 10k in 5-10/10-20 heads up against arguably the top 3 players on the site, I took my money to 50-100 NL against WizKid and lost a 16K on one hand which forever sent me down to the lower limits where I've been working on my way back up ever since. (obv not a brag post lol). Long story short, he raises to 350(we are HU) and I reraise to 1250, he calls. Flop QJ3. I have AA btw and bet 2400 and I get minraised, I know I'm fucked but I call... and lose. He has QJ, and I was so sick to my stomach becuz I had literally blown every bit I had worked for in one night. I knew nothing of bankroll management becuz I had only been playing maybe 9 months online, and money wasn't as important becuz I did not support myself. Poor me.

  23. I have one hand that maybe didnt change my career.. But it absolutly sums up everything about my poker game.. It was 3 handed in the 15K and it was and is still my biggest cash to date. And I played so well up to that point and played well to get there. Then I made one tiny mistake by not C-Betting and when you look at the hand and see how horribly unlucky I got also.. But it was my fault..

  24. How about the QJ vs JJ hand at the WSOPE ME? That has to be a top 5 for you?
