  1. If you would like to be a pro before college is over, make sure u play as much as u can while ur at school, and save some time for some college stuff, and i dont mean class. The more u go to class, the lower ur chances of becoming pro will be

  2. Well check this out then, I am a young working kid trying to make it, and I want to become a pro as well. I even have a major event cash, and have retooled my game, and have been playing well, turning a small .50 bank roll (left over from playing stupid) and am up to almost 5 bucks! I want to play in the big time! how bout staking this young online prodigy in the making?
  3. This is awesome, I'm in tears laughing at this thread.
  4. LMAO @ selling candy for double to your brother
  5. POTY
  6. Find somebody to back you in playmoney!!! I might be willing too if I see you have skills. Also start playing lots of "indian head" penny poker thats how I got my start. If you win any real money sng over 10 bucks thats when its time to quit school and dive in head first.

  7. If you want to make a living playing poker, play cash games... end of story. Not many people can endure the swings of playing exclusively tournament poker. Learn solid strategy, get experience, and employ self discipline when you play and you will make money. When you end up at 2/4 or above you can easily make 100k+ a year.
  8. OK, here is a tip for those who want to improve. Look ' alsanre ' up and look at how he play, really, I been looking at the guy for about 4 day now ( about 30 hour) . and i won 7 out of 1,437 people today. I now get how to play tournament, tip: blind stealer with high card or pair. And If i make a 6 figure income, i will definately remember u guy on this post.

  9. lol this tool cant even spell and ppl ship him monies wudda joke
  10. Sad it takes a misdirected, confused vietnamese/american teenager to bring tears to your eyes.
  11. 1. You can make a living playing other games. Cash games are filled with swings. Huge swings. Sngs actually have the least amount of variance.
    2. You can make over 100k a year playing less than 2/4. You could do it playing .5/1 if you put in good number of hours and were good at multi tabling.
  12. <table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td>yea I read it, but I am pretty smart though. And I am one of those person who don;t want to work by the hour, I am one of those who want to make money doing something. quote ' don't work for money, let ur money work for u'. </td></tr></tbody></table>Kimmi, I hope I can provide some perspective. I'm a 45 year-old Asian American (I was 18 once, I think.) and I like a good poker game. I'm EV+ online; I've doubled my bankroll this year by steady grinding. But it's a hobby.
I make a 6 figure income and I have for the last 10 years. Before that, I had a high 5 figure income. How did I do that? I worked my ass off in college and got a good paying job. And the best thing about working is that there's NO VARIANCE and health insurance, to boot. I think you greatly underestimate the variance that you'll have to survive to wave that $1000 to your parents. (A statistics course would really help you there.)
Poker is ultimately a zero-sum game; for every $1 won, there's $1 lost. Actually it's worse, because of the rake. Even the rare winner, like Stu Unger, destroyed his life from addictions because he wanted to get that high he got from winning poker in other ways.
  13. 99 % of the time freerolls and play money arent anything like real money tournaments. If you want to be exposed to real experiance against good players you HAVE to play for real money. The higher the better.
  14. Talk to sheets
  15. why in the world would you want to quit school to play poker??? The greatest thing i've found about poker as a proffesion... or in my case... part time job, is that it is so flexible. Granted, my grades suck.. but in a few years... i'll stumble outa this school with a diploma and some good times under my belt.

Stay in school... grind out rent/beer money for a few years... see if it's as glorious/easy as you imagine it

chipping off 80th place scores on free rolls isnt gonna get it done my good man
  16. Gambling/video games/drugs/sex are serious gateways to ruining your youth. I suggest going to the nurse and asking her where you can see about getting into rehab. You really need to nip this off at the bud before you are a runaway train wreck !!
Your inablility to play normal hours and take care of your other responsiblilitys are a sure sign of chronic addiction. You are an addict w/out drugs. Your fix is poker, and you cant get enough. Quit before you lose the family Fortune your father has worked so many years for.

Respect your family and they will help you through this.
  17. So Far its easy for you: Buy one or two pokerbooks, read the forums and eventually start playing microstakes (not to win big, but to get a feel how poeple play when real money is at stake, even if its a 0.1 $ tourney, 1.25$ sitngo etc). Don't focus too much on it though, gotta study as well. after 6-12 months see where you at. Read about bankroll management and be honest with yourself regarding your results....

It becomes tough if playing poker actually earns you money, but you dont have enough time to play because down the road you gotta pass some exams...(well, thats were I am at, and yes, now it becomes a tough decision)

    Hope that helps

p.s: You should be able to beat 20$ sitngos, 10$ Mtt's and 100$ NL cash before you even faintly consider going pro...
  18. wtf r u smoking kid
  19. if you smart, after the proper education you can make 6 figure much easier than with poker..!!!
    If you smart....
  20. I Love this post!!! I would ship one dollar right away except: beat, I used the responsible gaming option and had my account locked for a month TO XXXXXX STUDY TO PASS MY XXXXXXX EXAMS.
  21. I bet this dude wins the 2008 Main Event. I can see it now. I really can.
  22. Shipping him $1 internet dollas on pstars will surely help him stay in school and forget online poker until he gets a degree...
  23. Maybe The 2009 main event

  24. Listen to the best in the Business. They've replied to your thread dude. If you can't figure out which ones they are then check out the other threads and their names will pop up no doubt.

And remember not to get ahead of yourself. Poker isn't a Get rich Quick Scheme. It's a tough game. And there is lots of competition. Protect your bankroll like you protect your chip stack.

Good Luck and maybe I'll see you at a Final Table someday.
  25. is this kid actually serious? like wtf. you have a 3.4 GPA, if that is true im not trying to be rude, but your really really dumb. cmon man, if ur that smart in school...instead of making 100,000$ a year....(which in all honesty the odds of that happening gotta be 5% or less playin poker). why dont you find something your interested in, go to school. and make 500K + instead of 100K...wouldnt it make more sense to go to school for 4years, gaurenteed make 500K + IF U TRULY DO HAVE THIS MUCH DRIVE IT SHOULD BE EASY FOR U.

i still cant take this as a serious post, but if it is...good luck bud
  26. the magnetism that exudes from kimmi is very special.
First,he comes up with a eye catching title "six figure
income"...ingenious...then he tugs at your heart strings
and pulls at your purse strings...ingenious.
  27. I had an asian friend just like you, he was in college he would play free rolls all the time, play like 9 hours a day and finally built up a little roll. After that he grinded SNGs to a couple K, then took his shot against gus hanson on FTP high stakes table, got on a nice run and made 30k in a week...He never looked back. So i'm assuming all asians are equivalent and you can do this too. He graduated 2 years late but F it. gluck
  28. spacehog i tink you are !@@#$&

  29. Now that is hilarious!!!! Hey, just play poker for fun and like someone said, beer and party money, but get an education to have options.
