I didn't see it posted yet, so in case you wanted to watch it, the 60 Minutes story on the Online Poker cheating scandal is on this Sunday Nov. 30. It's supposed to be the lead segment on the program.
-
Fianlly Just seen the 1.5 min preview on the 60 mins website can't wait
-
Wow, after seeing the preview for the segment.......My dad is going to flame on and on and on and on about how he is right and that online poker is all luck and everyone is getting scammed. FML
-
I suspect this will not be good for online poker players.
-
thank goodness Todd Witteles 'solved' the AP scandal
-
Def bad. Way bad.
Shocked that "pros" Tod Wiselis (? Name said so fast it sounded like that, and I don't know the "regs") would go on and expose how vulnerable the programs can be. -
Will there be anywhere online I can watch this after it's broadcast (I'm based outside the US)?
-
In the first 15 secs they say online poker is illegal. Someone get on the phone with the PPA, this could be trouble.
-
Ya i just watched it to i dont get it?? I hope to god my mom doesnt see this
-
I honestly believe that in the long run this will be good for online poker. This can be our chance to get it regulated in the US. The opening story did say that regardless Americans are still playing....this is important in getting congress to understand that its going to happen regardless and we should attempt to make it safe and collect revenues from it.
I honestly don't understand you people that would bury your heads in the sand and ignore the cheating scumbags all under the guise of its bad for online poker to have it exposed.
What we need is regulation, laws and consequences for people that steal from others in online poker.
The push should be to have congress issue licenses to certain states to operate and regulate online poker. Companies like Harrahs, Sands and MGM, all regulated by the Navada Gaming. We need to bring online poker home to the US and out of the hands of the Kanawake Indian Tribe. -
nice of them to release this just as things got CEREUS
-
I think there needs to be a 60 Minutes investigation of the 60 Minutes legal team. Since when is online poker illegal in the U.S.? Maybe in some states, but certainly not everywhere.
-
There is also a 2:57 clip to the side of the main clip where he talks about the UB/AP scandal, how it was uncovered by the players, and what is being done...
-
link to said preview plz?
-
They said the industry is illegal in the US, they never said that playing online poker is illegal. Are they correct?
Can I open up a poker site from my home in the US and start accepting deposits? -
They should be more clear with the "online poker is illegal" statement. Legal to play, illegal to set up in the US.
See the two previews here;

This shit makes me hate UB and AP and now Cereus so fucking bad. Poker is a hard enough sell as it is. I would be asshamed to be an UB or AP pro. I know you have to look out for yourself, but come on people. Helmuth dosn't need the money that bad...tell those people to go Fuck off. This scandle could end up being the end all the US poker. Sad stuff
-
lol dan druff to the rescue!
-
The way they say, they are corrrect. They never say it's illegal for an individual to play it. They say it's illegal to operate in the USA.
-
With this and the dissapointment of Cereus UB and AP need some serious positive PR. I dont know but it seems they are just slowly falling apart.
-
It's not hard to hear that and think something else though. I'm not worried about people on this forum suddenly going, "Hmmm, maybe I should rethink this whole poker thing." I'm worried about the 55+ demographic that watches 60 minutes going, "These people are criminals for playing poker."

Yeah they are old, but I'd rather not have people equating me to a drug dealer because I make money playing cards.
