  1. I have open shoved 2 of the last 8 hands, but prior this I have been tight.

    felix running at 17/17 25hs.

He can certainly be stealing with 26bbs here, so I don't expect his range to be very narrow.

Is this a good spot to use a stop & go (on any flop, unless we hit a 7)? When we shove pre, we might get a fold sometimes, but often we are flipping and sometimes we are dominated. If we shove any flop, we minimise variance, and can even get some stronger pairs to fold on high boards . We also give him a tough decision to make when he has Ah of flops 2/3rd pair.

    Thoughts?

  2. i like the idea with those stacks and positions, but 77 is the kind of hand i'll rather just ship pre honestly.

  3. What sword says.
  4. i agree with sword, just ship it. with your stack size he is getting 1,5:1 on the call which should be just fine for him to call you off with like 22-66 or rag aces. you should also see this perspective since you lose value against those hands by using stop n go. just my point of view anyway.

  5. You say it minmises variance but against capable reg's this is just not gonna work as much because your getting snapped pretty wide as when you flat/jam flop your range is seen as weak, and most the time it will be

But ye in this spot its a jam as everyone has said yeh def miss value sometimes as honey put.
  6. I just don't think in a $5 tourny that you are going to get people to fold overs to a flop so that part of the plan is out.

There's gonna be about 2600 in the pot if you flat and you can shove 3800 into it on the flop. He has you well covered and will have 9800 behind when you shove. What kind of flop are you expecting? A low board and if he has over pair or over cards he may well call. A high board and he may well hit and call or have a draw and call. I don't see what the flat achieves in this situation?

I just don't think it's a favourable position given the chances of a board that is good for you and likely bad for his range when he has you so well covered.

Far better to shove pre into his range I think.

well said. plus what daughton said- it's a $5 tourney they often aren't folding with even a draw on that flop jam as well. I really don't see Stop n going as reducing variance. If anything, it reduces the amount you can win in this spot and perhaps makes it a -EV spot. Just Jam.

  10. I'd raise to 3676 sometimes it confuses people and they fold I'm def "gettin it in" here tho

  11. tbh we need more stats on him if he is opening wide from ep or not...in a vacuum it would be wise to fold here and shove aj+ 88+

never use a stop n go with a pocket pair its just like obv for obv reasons not too :)
