I got in an arguement with my friend about this hand. He says that the correct play would have been to reraise all-in on the flop here. What do you guys think?

i definately would'nt put in over half my chips and fold....shove or fold on turn imo, i'm thinking fold

I didn't see the point in calling on that river by which time there was pretty much no hand I could beat. As for shoving or folding on the turn, I'd probably opt for folding as well but this is all in retrospect. Anyone else got an opinion on this thread?

This is one of those where u r either way behind or way ahead.

The decision to a very large extent depends on ur feel 4 the villian (any reads etc) - has he been active, what has he shown down, etc
The flop is about the best u could hope 4 other than hitting ur set. It is a reasonably dry board. Personally I think u need to find out where u r on this flop - but to do this the only option is shoving given ur stack size. This also means u r taking the lead in the betting and putting him to the decision. If he calls with an over pr gg. but he may give u credit 4 a set and fold or snap call with AK. The way the hand played out he most likely had a pocky pr. from the start. The way u flatted the turn makes ur hand look weak and he can apply maximum pressure on the river (even if he has complete air - u cannot call) - who knows his AdKd may have got there (which he may well have folded to a flop shove).
As an aside I had a similar situation the other night.
I have 99 on the button raise it to 3.5 BB
SB flats
Another player flats
Board 5,6,7 rainbow
sb leads out 1/3 pot
other player snap folds
I repop to 3/4 pot
He tanks and annouces 10s and folds
I think once u flatted the flop it is a fold or all in on the turn
At the end of the day this is one of those hands which is heavily read and situation dependant. It also depends on ur image. A fold on the turn is not a disaster neither is shoving the flop or turn - note that on the turn u will be called down irregardless of his holding. Personally unless this guy had been a nit I would probably be shipping it on the flop - if he has me he has me -
was his standard open 4x pre? weak players tend to play 8s-jjs this way if they are normally opening 3x then switch to 4x. i prob just fold on the flop. I think preflop its close you have about 40 bbs im leaning towards folding preflop unless your sure you will get all his chips if you flop a set.
