I didnt' get anything back :(.
I hope this was on a site with insane security.
  7. It was pokerstars, and hopefully if done via transfer, and they see diff IP addresses, they can do something about it
    12

  12. so how much of a loser off the 9k are u .....how much did stars get back 4 u
  13. That's insane dude! I wish you the best in your battle. I hope you get it back, and the arse that did it gets his/hers!
  14. Hope all turns out well, please keep us posted so others may prevent like happenings. GL
  15. That sux!!!!!

Any clue how they got ur PW???? Buddy/acquaintance???? Same PW as other sites/boards???

Hope the IP information helps you out!

I’m changing my PW tonight to something totally unique and random…..

    Keep us posted and GL
  16. Most pokersites dont do much about this, they normally hold a policy that its not thier fault. If the funds are still in the guys account and he hasnt lost them they can normally get them back
  17. I create new passwords every once in a while in a strange way. I close my eyes and hit a bunch of keys on the keyboard then the number pad. This becomes my new password that no one can guess.

I hope everything works out in getting your funds back. This is one of my biggest concerns of with online poker. An account hack can cost you thousands.

    cmitch
  18. My account at party was hacked a couple months ago for like $600. I normally have over 10 K in my account, so it was a stroke of luck that I had such a little amt. I called Party and they pretty much said that my password is my responsibility and they did nothing. Thanks Party.

  19. ya ths thread prompted me to change all passwords and cash out 30k. :P now theres not even enough on each site for a 1/2nl bankroll.

sucks that things like this have to happen. Hopefully for our sake it was somehow a password leak of your fault, not to wish that upon you but for the sake of the rest of us. Always seems that way because why would they target you as opposed to like green plastic etc
  20. did the same and cashed out. kind of put me in a bind though as there are no bm's around where I live in Hawaii. guess i just have to stick to the home games for now. suprisingly though here on maui there is a home game everynight if i wanted to play in one, but i dont think that my wife would appreciate that. :) guess ill have to go to vegas more often.
  21. Another reason you see HIGH STAKES POKER on GSN and not the net. I think online poker is great, but eee-gawd!! So many crazy people out there.
  22. i cant say for sure obviously...but i do not believe that it password leak from me. Depending on how i choose to look at the situation..there is some good that comes out of this. First off from now on i wil be a lot more cautious than i was being, and secondly im not gonna lose it all. Im also happy i didnt have that much in my stars accoutn at the time, sometimes i have a lot more in the account and a 30k loss would have stung a lot more than the couple thousand it looks like ill be losing.

All hackers go jump off a bridge

    thx a lot

  24. <SPAN>I did a little surfing to find out how others are getting hacked or more a<SPAN>ccurately </SPAN>how they are getting their PWs stolen.
    </SPAN>

    <SPAN>
I found this on another forum. </SPAN><SPAN>I know most of this has been said before…but here it is again for those that haven’t heard it or those like me that need to hear it again….and act on it!!!!</SPAN>

<SPAN>My party poker account and my pokerstars account were hacked. The way it happened was i had my passwords saved, and had a great amount of spyware (pop-ups). Anyhow it does happen the spyware sends out the saved passwords and people log on and and take something if there is anything in there. If you have your passwords saved and have spyware than i would say that is what happened. </SPAN>

    <SPAN> </SPAN>

    <SPAN> </SPAN>

<SPAN>Scooby posted this back on the first page of the thread, and I wanted to comment on it. </SPAN>

    <SPAN> </SPAN>

<SPAN>This is probably the number 1 way that people get their accounts hacked. There are several simple things everyone can do to prevent this: </SPAN>

    <SPAN> </SPAN>

<SPAN>1. Don't use the "Save My Password" feature on your computer. To the people who write malicious spyware and viruses, this is a free pass into your accounts. </SPAN>

    <SPAN> </SPAN>

<SPAN>2. Run periodic checks of your computer with an anti-spyware tool. Use one that's not a part of your regular anti-virus software. You should run a spyware scan after about every 20 hours or so of online time, after visiting sites that are spyware prone (particularly porn sites, hacker / warez sites, and sites that offer free illegal downloads), and any time you notice connection lags or a general slowdown of your computer. Two such programs that I highly recommend are: Spybot Search & Destroy ( http://www.safer-networking.org/ ) and Ad-Aware ( http://www.lavasoft.de/ ) Both are free, and will find and remove spyware that your antivirus software misses. (They found over 200 spyware programs on my system the first time I ran them, and I NEVER surf without antivirus software running!) </SPAN>

    <SPAN> </SPAN>

<SPAN>3. Never go online without adequate antivirus software running. If you </SPAN><SPAN>don</SPAN><SPAN>'t have the money for Norton or McAffee's annual subscription, you can download AVG Anti-Virus for free at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 </SPAN>

    <SPAN> </SPAN>

<SPAN>4. Don't use simple, one-word passwords. The most-used passwords are God , sex, love, money, things like that. Passwords are case-sensitive, so try to use a password that has both upper and lower case letters, is at least 6 characters long and contains at least one number. And </SPAN><SPAN>don</SPAN><SPAN>'t use any family names or dates as a password..... these are too easily looked-up by a clever hacker. </SPAN>

    <SPAN> </SPAN>

<SPAN>5. Don't use the same password for all your online accounts! This is a recipe for disaster. By doing this, you make yourself even more vulnerable. If one of the institutions you do business with online gets hacked, the first thing the hackers are going to do is try to find other accounts they can access with the same password. Don't make their jobs any easier for them.</SPAN>
  25. One thing that is a major problem is that it is too easy to transfer money from one account to another on poker sites. They should make you pass a couple of checkpoints (i.e., address, mother's maiden name, etc) in order to transfer money out of your account.

I understand that someone could also just dump the money to another player in a NL table, but my above suggestion would just create another roadblock to prevent easy transfer after an account has been hacked.
  26. Readzie: <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=4 width="100%" bgColor=#ffffff border=0><TBODY><TR bgColor=#ffffff><TD colSpan=2><TABLE cellPadding=2 border=0 celspacing="0"><TBODY><TR><TD>ya ths thread prompted me to change all passwords and cash out 30k. :P now theres not even enough on each site for a 1/2nl bankroll.
    </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

to rephrase: "This thread provided me with a good cover up for me recently jumping into another high stakes NL game and going broke"
  27. Im pretty sure if i hacked someones account i wouldnt be stupid enough to just transfer it, id lose to a buddy in a game so that the site cant do shit
  28. I guess this will be his excuse for playing 1/2NL.
  29. May I also offer another suggestion.

    Go to www.majorgeeks.com

    go to the spyware section.

    download

spybot search and destroy - you will also need to download the DSO exploit fix because there is a glitch in the original

    adaware personal

    and

    spyware blaster

this program is not a search and destroy program. It prevents the spyware from reaching your computer. The nice thing also about this program is that it protects if you use firefox for all you porn surfers

yahoo tollbar is also free and has a pop up blocker and spyware removal program built right in.

I cannot stress the importance of a firewall as well, this will block all inbound traffic.

I would purchase a hardware one associated with your modem but if you don't want to spend the money www.zonealarm.com
    has one for free.

    GL and be safe
