On tuesday me and my friend went to an underground poker club to play a small 150 buyin torny which we ended up chopping HU for 1100 each. I talked to my friend today and he told me the owner of the club called him and said we were accused of colluding. The blinds were 3k/6k with a 1k ante(yes the format is pretty awful.) My friend is UTG and shoves for 16k total, it comes around to me in the BB and look down at 25s, its an 8 handed table so there is 33k in the pot and i call getting 3.3:1 on my money. He flips AQ and holds. My friend explained this to the guy and he said there is no way he would ever call an all in with 52, and we are allowed to come back but he is not gonna stand for any collusion. I love live poker :)

Pretty easy call, should give him the link to this thread.

That's why you have so much FE, people will fold ridiculously, and that is the mentality - " I would never call an allin w 52o.", lolz.
-
dammit, i was really hoping this story was going to involve cucumber melon lotion and a hot chick.
-
Yeah, that is a good point, you fold there online and you'd get reported for collusion!
-
Thinking about this more, that guy must be of a lower intellect. It is clearly not collusion because you called, not the other way around. 38-39% chance of winning there.

I was in a tourney and blinds were 500/1000 everyone folded to the SB and he went all in for 3000 more (so 3500 total). I was big blind and had 4 9 off suit and called. He ended up having pocket 7s if I remember correctly but when all the cards were out there they were 10 10 J J 6 so my 9 played and I won the pot knocking him out.
He of course said I was horrible for calling with 4 9 off suit. I was one of the chip leaders at the time as well. I think it was the right play by me....
I have to admit that I am not very good when it comes to pot odds (look for me at the tables) but I think there are a lot of people that play live that don't even know what pot odds are. -
Everyone's spot on... it would only look like collusion if you folded to your friend in that spot. To anyone who understands math and poker even a little bit, that is. To the monkeys that thought the call was collusion because dey knowz 52 is bad handz, I know you want your names to be clear but it also sucks having to try and educate the fish to do it.

Were there antes? With no antes, you're calling 2500 more to win 4500, 1.8-1 on your money. It's close, but this is a fold with 94o. If there were antes that would be enough to make it a call... the magic number is 2-1.

I would say it wasn't horrible, but marginally incorrect. -
I kinda agree with 2-1 is the magic number, but too many people call in every situation getting 2-1.
Sometimes its correct folding getting even better than 2-1, and I'm not taking about a satellite or a bubble situation. If I raise in CO with 52s as a steal and button, who I know is a really tight player who would only shove AK, AQs and any pair. This player shoves giving me 2-1, this is a fold. You only have 25% equity. (Some might argue that its wrong to raise in that situation because you HAVE TO call the short stack if he pushes, but I dont think so. He will fold 93% of the time)
When you include stuff like bubbles, and moving up in money, this can become correct to fold even more hands. Especially because tight players play even tighter in those situations. -
Obviously you didn't read my full post. I said I wasn't that good....I'll take marginal as I was expecting it was a horrible play once I posted it.
