  1. Does everyone limp in with ace rag suited and fold when they don't flop 2 pair or better or a flush draw?

Is it +EV to play ace rag suited in that way?

Should I even play ace rag suited at all?

I'm trying to figure out if this is a leak in my game.

Btw, I only limp in with this hand when I have about 30 bbs or better.

Should just fold that hand at a 9 handed table and save the bb?
  2. yes
  3. Fold

  4. If U're gonna Play Ace Rag , Play it for a Reason don't just play it becasue its an Ace, I tend to Limp Ep with AceRag Suited and this i believe is a massive leak in my Game. Save the Big Blind when in EP, and play the hand more Aggresivly when in LP IMO. If you gonna fold if u don't hit 2 pair or a Good Draw then u're better to muck pre.
  5. why do you limp it? if youre going to play it, you might as well raise with it, put some pressure on people...

  6. Can someone who knows what they are talking about please answer this question, and give some detail, not just FOLD.Such as what position to play it from, what stage of the tourny, and how stack size relates to how much you have to call.
  7. Here's a basic guide Ill make up I guess:

    Early Stages:
    -EP: Fold
    -MP: Limp over other limpers
    -LP: Limp over other limpers
SB/BB: Fold to any raise (unless huge odds in a big multiway pot)

    Middle Stages:
    -EP: Fold
-MP: Raise to steal *based on stack size
    -LP: Raise to steal
    -SB/BB: Resteal read dependently

    Late Stages:
    Exact same as Middle Stages

  8. I think it;s pretty simple.

Fold ace rag suited 99% of the time early/middle stages in tourneys, with exceptions such as SB, BB.

Late in tourneys, it would depend on your stack sizes.

Short Stack - Shove any ace in MP, LP but fold in EP (this prolly is debatable)

Medium stack - fold (you cannot afford to raise with A rag and fold to a shove - if you call, most likely dominated) You probably have big enough of a stack to wait for a better hand.

Large Stack - raise any suited ace from LP, but MP depends on who is behind you (loose calling stations is a bit tough to deal with if you got a weak ace) Of course you also need to pay attention to the stack sizes behind u, and be wary of any medium stack shoving on u. Most of the time you will fold to a medium stack shove.

I think this would be the optimal way to play those hands but I aint a superstar poker player. Still got a long ways to go, so take my guidelines with a grain of salt.

EDIT: I just realized my guidelines makes me seem like a nit. Well, it works for me, so I guess it's really dependent on people's playing style cuz I get away with a lot of steals due to my tight (???) image.
  9. Thanks for everyones input.

I was definitely playing ace rag suited incorrectly. I used to limp with it whenever the pot wasn't raised just to see if i'd flop the nut flush draw or 2 pair/trips. I definitely need to think more about table/tourney position before considering playing this hand.

Thanks for sealing up this leak.

  10. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooted

  11. improperly played weak aces are the #1 leak in poker IMO...
  12. Something on of my good friends said to me when i started playing that really stuck with me was when i limped with A8 suited and he was sweating my hand. After i lost the pot to AQ or something like that. he said

"why limp there? What did you want to hit your Ace or your 8?"
  13. ^^^ Ding ding ding...
  14. Just to let you know I would not place ace rag unsuited and if I do play ace rag suited it is only to see if I hit the nut flush draw/2 pair. But I digress, thanks everyone again for your responses.

  15. Ax suited can be played very similar to the way you would play a small pocket pair. The odds of hitting a set with a small pair is just about identical to the odds of flopping two cards of your suit for the nut flush draw.
  16. Does everyone limp in with ace rag suited and fold when they don't flop 2 pair or better or a flush draw?

No some people hit the ace and then go busto calling it down to a bigger ace or better.
  17. if you are limp/folding to a raise you are spewing
if you are limp/calling a raise, you are spewing more

either way, you are spewing by limping Ax suited
