I urge you to oppose pending legislation that would limit the rights of individuals to play poker online. <A target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://capwiz.com/keep_it_legal/issues/alert/?alertid=8637406&type=CO">

I had been putting off sending my congressman a letter because I'm lazy. This is entirely automated and does the hard work for you. I ask that everyone please take 2-3 minutes to fill this out. We will all lose if online poker is made illegal in the states.
Cheers,

This morning, our local news ran a short piece on this ... with Lederer, Raymer and others appearing before a House subcommittee (I believe it was this week; they didn't expressly say that -- it could have been old footage, I guess).
I doubt the fact that so many people play B&M and online, as Howard stated, made for a particularly compelling reason to drop this bill ... because, of course, footage of their testimony was immediately followed by the obligatory "high school kid runs up $80K gambling debt using Mom & Pop's credit card" piece.
OK, time to go watch Bax win a PS rebuy on X factor. -
I have done that many times and the donation deal on party...hope everyone else takes the time to also
-
Done. This is way too easy. I actually sent an additional msg with my own words as well. When I was growing up in the 70's,80's, my grandfather was a die-hard republican. I was really close to him, and so obviously I became a republican too. When I see this bill, however, it changes my stance. Without even playing poker I would say this...the one thing the repubs have always campaigned on was getting government out of people's lives. And, then we see this. Ideologically, I would say I'm moderate, but in terms of party I couldn't pick right now. I hate putting up political views, so I want to stress that I respect all views, and always attempt to keep an open mind.

This is literaly 2 minutes out of your day. If enough people voice their opinions about keeping online poker from becomming illegal congress has to give us consideration. These are elected officials that should make laws based on the people's opinions, not their own feelings.
-
I've written twice. What I can't believe is, I've received NO RESPONSE from either my senators or my representative. Not even a form letter "thanks for your input." That seriously pisses me off.
-
Done.....it really doesn't take that long a minute if that....EVERY P5s MEMBER SHOULD DO THIS!
-PocketHeadies -
yeah they haven't sent me jack either
-
Done, again. This time my brother who lives up the street sent it.
-
You should have gotten a generic "thanks for your concern" email. Keep in mind, when you write your elected officials, one of their interns reads all the constituent letters and tallies them up. The official usually only sees the tallies. That being said, it does make a difference if an official gets 10,000 emails for or against something and only 20 the other way. Let them know there are constituents who care about this issue.

Dear Mr. Wolfe:
Thank you for taking the time to contact my office with your thoughts and concerns regarding internet gambling. I agree with you that whether or not a person participates in online gambling is none of the federal government's business. As a United States Congressman, I am committed to the Constitution, which I swore to uphold. This country's founders recognized the genius of separating power among federal, state and local governments as a means to maximize individual liberty and make government most responsive to those persons who might most responsibly influence it. This separation of powers and system of federalism strictly limited the role of the federal government and anticipated that laws restricting gambling would exclusively be the province and responsibility of state and local governments (as stated in the ninth and tenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution).
Constitutionally, there are only three federal crimes. These are: treason against the United States, piracy on the high seas, and counterfeiting. Despite the problems sometimes associated with gambling, it is simply not the constitutional right of the U.S. Congress to act upon this matter. I will vote against any bill that seeks to prohibit online gambling at the federal level.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns on this important issue with me.
Sincerely,
Ron Paul
