I play at my local casino in canberra (the capital city of Australia) every week and No limit cash games have only just been introduced over the past 5 weeks or so - local government is very slow.
One particular player each week is either stretching the rules or showing poor etiqutte by reaching for his chips and motioning them slightly forward, only about an inch or so, but is looking for a reaction from the other player/s in the pot then either folding or betting after that. i was fed up with it last night, and suggested that it wasnt in the spirit of the game and also could be forced to go all in if a player pushed the issue. He openly admited he was looking for a reaction and taht it wasnt against the rules. I would like to know any ones thoughts on this. The discussion went for about 30 minutes and he even bet me $50 that it wasnt in the rules that he couldnt do so.
The other point he brought up was that he could even open his cards to another player in the pot if he wanted to to get a reaction to see if he should cal a big bet heads up... It was suggested by the cardroom manager that it would be deemed a fold if his cards were exposed and he owed money to the pot... Peoples thoughts on that too please.

kinda depends on the rules of the room. some you have to cross a line with the chips some you don't. some you have to let the chips go b4 it's considered a bet, etc. the dealer should know and the floor room manager should def. know the answer to that. If he doesn't, he shouldn't have that job.

I know at turing stone you can expose your cards except in a tournament.

..most card rooms here in Vegas now have the 'bet line' painted on the felt......moving chips across this line is a bet.....ALL card rooms should have these 'bet lines'.....reduces chances of pricks trying to get reactions my making fake betting motions...........
I saw a guy SPILL his chips across this line and it was determined to be a bet !! :-)
Also.......exposing one or both cards when 'heads up' is within the rules........but purposely exposing cards in a multi-way pot is clearly against the rules because it affects betting patterns........
Some prick here last night was exposing his cards often when heads up....I find this VERY annoying.....he would turn his cards up WHILE deciding whether to call or raise or fold...he was a real 'drama queen'...slowed down the game badly..............but this guy was doing it in a 'fake muck' motion......he was turning his cards up and faking a surrender of his hand.......but his hand was still live.......one poor guy got suckered in to this scam....he thought the prick had mucked and surrendered.....so HE tossed his A-A face down into the muck....a huge argument ensued.................floor person was summoned......the dealer actually fished the A-A OUT of the muck because he said he knew which cards they were......luckily the pot was pushed to the 'good guy'.....but the prick was whining about this for hours........watch out for pricks faking a surrender AND making fake betting motions !!!
