  1. Nice article; just read it tonight. I'm not getting the missing piece of this article in the you say that you are playing tight... but you are heading into the bubble with a nice stack of chips. It seems that whenever I play tightly, I am the low stack. Almost always. Now, I've won a few good SST's at $10+1, but lost a lot playing tightly. It seems that while I'm waiting for a nice hand to arrive, my opponents are picking up their chips with their inferior hands. Someone's got to win the hand... and I seem to just watch the game go by. Now, if I do pick up a good hand, I'll play it aggressively, but then the waiting begins again... eventually down to the short stack again. So, my question is: How are you balancing playing only premium hands and still getting a nice stack of chips before you get to 5 players? Thanks, Hypno Man
  2. In STT I play postion almost as much as I play the cards..when im on the button im going to have to have a very bad hand not to raise, and I usually can take it down on the flop. I dont stick to Adams strict starting hand requiments..im looking for big suited cards..big unsutied cards other than AK AQ go down in value(JQ,KQ,KJ etc) to me. Suited connectors I will play cheap and try to pick up something, in positon I will even raise with them.

It is also important to note that the table has alot to do with how you play, if they are playing passivly then I will get in there early and pick up free chips. If there are some guys who wont to win in the first 10 min I will sit back and lure them in when I have a big and and get a nice pot off of them.

I suggest you read Gidders SNG blogs he has alot of good tips and he has helped my game alot I owe my success to him really.

You have to find something that works for you, if you can sit back and wait for hands and pick guys off then good, if you are more of a player who gets in there and moves chips around like Gidds and my self(sometimes) then great. Find something that works and stick with it, but always play aggreisve no matter what and be prepared to swtich gears.
  3. Most sngs, I feel i get at least one chance to chip up before the blinds get big. I usually get to the bigger blinds (75-150 on stars or UB) with at least 133% of the starting stack (2k) which is enough to play some at this level when 5 handed or so. Generally I gradually become more aggressive as the blinds get bigger....that is, I play the 50-100 level on UB or Stars much more aggressively than I do the 25/50 or 30/60 level, and I play those said levels a bit more aggressively than i play the 15/30 level. My aggression tends to reach its peak when the blinds are 1/10 of the starting stack (75-150 on those sites).

Anyway, this is contingent mainly on the sng going as most sngs go, in that after the first 3 levels or so, you've chipped up a little but not significantly, and are sitting at a relatively average or somewhat below average chip position. If a lot of great cards come early and you're able to chip up, it only makes sense to not worry about speeding up until the blinds get up to that peak aggression level and the number of players gets down to a manageable short-handed situation, which I consider to be typically 5 handed or less.....but if this doesn't happen, and it usually won't, I usually end up getting more aggressive gradually, not all at once at the bubble.
