  1. With the way I play pre add on in rebuy tournies, many times I have very huge stacks after the 1st break. I always addon no matter what, but recently my friend pointing out to me it's kind of dumb adding on with such a big stack.

So, what do you guys think? Is there a point where adding on isn't worth it?

For example in the 100k rebuy on dise last night, i had 21k at break and still added on for another 2k.
  2. I would say there is def a breaking point for when it is not that beneficial to addon. 21,000 is not enough close to that threshold, though, I would def addon there. 40K, thats where it starts to become a matter of whether or not it matters..Buuuuuuuut, if the addon amount is nothing to you, I say just addon, if anything it gives you a couple rounds of free blinds!

  3. raymer said if u have the average stack if u were at the final table then u dont have to addon. so thats pretty rare so its usually a auto addon
  4. Yes there is definitely a point where adding on isn't worth it. I think mathematically speaking, it becomes "not worth it" when the percent increase you gain in your stack is less than the theoretical percent increase to your expected profit due to those extra chips...The thing about that is that it's pretty much impossible to accuratley estimate what your expected return will be with 21k, or 23k (to use your example).

You need to weigh the cost of addon with the additional value you will get from the added chips. If i have a 50k stack at the end of a rebuy hour, and the average stack is 12k, and 99% of the field all having under 30k....There's no way i'm adding on for another buy in. Having a 52k stack rather than a 50k one just won't help your chances significantly of making it that much deeper.

Also look how it affects your ROI....

You buy in once, then rebuy immediately, and go on a rampage collecting chips till you are among the chip leaders. Then you addon for another buy in. You now have 3 buy ins invested instead of 2, or 50% more paid in entry fees. To offset the effect of that extra buy in on your ROI, you will need to cash for 50% more than you would have without the addon.
