Ok so we are playing the daily double or big double or fifty fifty... etc
We OPR a player and he is -20% roi over 2000 tournaments with a ABI of 50$
I understand that different players are losing for different reasons, but in general how are you adjusting your play to such a player?
Generally it seems to me that this is the type of player whose call/shove ranges are wayyy to tight and often fold to 3bets/4bets in spots when they dont realize how often they should be calling.
Thoughts? -
Those numbers won't really tell you the story. There are so many ways to get to that point (-20%).
After a few orbits, THEN you will have a better idea of what's going on. -
theres many ways to lose. the player could be playing wayy too tight or wayy too loose. they under value or over value the strength of their hand.
-
you can make number of assumptions based on how many tournies they've played, their ABI as well as the ROI - and adjust accordingly*- but it wont give you much insight into the players style
*
Sometimes i look at the % of when they bust out and that can tell you a little about their style
e.g
if its someone who has a high % of Early, Early-Mid bustouts i'd assume they're too loose, have trouble laying down a hand and are likely to make too many bluffs
If the person has a high % of Mid bustouts i assume they are too tight, maybe passive and if they are betting strong they normally are - they're only 3 betting AA,KK,QQ etc
*
Thier sample size affects how strong this read is.......you still have to observe to back up the read and its only generally speaking but its a something to look for

I'm not sure if they have a trend line charts in terms of OPR stats, but as a market trader I would put much more stock in overall trend lines than the bottom line number. Bad players can improve. I.E. EVERY POCKET FIVER! Ever...

Dumb question, but...are you allowed to look at OPR while playing? I thought it might be against TOS
