This past Sunday I got to play in the "Guinness World Record" tournament on pokerstars with 34,999 others. An interesting hand occurred about 45 minutes in, after I had spent the prior 4 rounds getting involved in my fair share of hands, building an alright stack but still looking for that first double/triple up. Considering my table image was probably somewhat loose, in retrospect I think my pre-flop raise should have been in the 4-5x range instead of the regular 3x. Any advice/critique/opinions would be appreciated. -Crow2 PokerStars Game #23342705528: Tournament #126551369, $10+$1 Hold'em No Limit - Level V (30/60) - 2008/12/28 16:15:43 ET Table '126551369 1069' 10-max Seat #3 is the button Seat 1: callhome (2590 in chips) Seat 2: Crow2 (3970 in chips) Seat 3: Lipivily (6660 in chips) Seat 4: Irishdude777 (2955 in chips) Seat 5: dascher (2865 in chips) Seat 6: habs699 (5020 in chips) Seat 7: zmicer (9085 in chips) Seat 8: AldorBE (5065 in chips) Seat 9: Ferdo2005 (7595 in chips) Seat 10: ICaveman (5230 in chips) Irishdude777: posts small blind 30 dascher: posts big blind 60 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to Crow2 [Ad Ac] habs699: folds zmicer: calls 60 AldorBE: folds Ferdo2005: folds ICaveman: calls 60 callhome: folds Crow2: raises 165 to 225 Lipivily: calls 225 Irishdude777: folds dascher: folds zmicer: calls 165 ICaveman: calls 165 *** FLOP *** [4s 9s 6c] zmicer: checks ICaveman: checks Crow2: bets 675 Lipivily: calls 675 zmicer: calls 675 ICaveman: folds *** TURN *** [4s 9s 6c] [5h] zmicer: checks Crow2: bets 3070 and is all-in Lipivily: folds zmicer: calls 3070 *** RIVER *** [4s 9s 6c 5h] [4h] *** SHOW DOWN *** zmicer: shows [7c 4c] (three of a kind, Fours) Crow2: shows [Ad Ac] (two pair, Aces and Fours) zmicer collected 9155 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot 9155 | Rake 0 Board [4s 9s 6c 5h 4h] Seat 1: callhome folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 2: Crow2 showed [Ad Ac] and lost with two pair, Aces and Fours Seat 3: Lipivily (button) folded on the Turn Seat 4: Irishdude777 (small blind) folded before Flop Seat 5: dascher (big blind) folded before Flop Seat 6: habs699 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 7: zmicer showed [7c 4c] and won (9155) with three of a kind, Fours Seat 8: AldorBE folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 9: Ferdo2005 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 10: ICaveman folded on the Flop

In one of Dan Harrington's books, he discusses the proper raising amount, believing that a slightly higher number(4-6x) is called for in online poker, on the premise that a raise such as yours won't blast out any of your fellow travellers, and in this case, I'd likely have made it 6x, what with two limpers in front of you.
