  1. Ok so I really justed started getting into online poker and have been playing off an on since the beginning of the school year. Previously I have deposited $50 on AP and cashed it out for $150 and then deposited $50 on FTP and lost it and didn't play for a while. Ok so Sept. comes and my other roomate starts to play on stars and I started as well, playing my first tourney there, $5000 PPA Freeroll, and wound up making like $20. Since Sept. I have turned that $20 into $850 on Stars and FTP primarily playing the low stakes SNG's, starting with $1 and working up to now the $6.50 turbos. My ROI is a reasonable 11% over about 500 games. I go to school, and Im from Atlantic City so I was playing 1-2 NL there before I started playing online. My question is after I graduate in a month, get a real paying job, should I stick with what Im doing or maybe take a shot, deposit a few grand and play in games where the money is actually meaningful. Im not knocking the small stakes SNG's bc I love them and its brought me that additional $850 this year, but once I have a real job making $27 or $45 for a win, isnt really going to make a huge difference since I play a pretty small volume. Any ideas, or similar experiences? Anybody feel like this would be a bad idea to go from such low stakes to maybe 1-2 NL online or $20 SNG's and up. Just wondering what the smart play would be given my gradual success and small ROI? Sorry for the rant, just dont know what to do when I got real money, which means more money in your bank account than on online poker sites, like I am currently.
  2. down swings WILL HAPPEN. get ready, stick to what your winning at, play isnt much diff at 20$ sngs though.... but play whatever levels where the money doesnt matter if you loose, thats a good place to start.

  3. Moving up a level in SNG's isnt a bad idea, but jumping into 1-2 cash from $10 sng's is. If you want to get into cash games you should start much smaller and work your way up.

  4. this is way better OP then i thought it was going to be. 2 choices that i weighed the options on as i graduated last May. 1. grind em out try and build a bankroll with BR managment and stick to what your doing. or 2. move up and if you miss you have a real job and can reload then go from there back down a little. Since your playing time will be less with a real job and its now more of a hobby i suggest play within your limits take a few shots so its still fun but know that your real money is from a career and poker money is for the extra fun things like trips, and huge bar tabs.
  5. yeah i realized i should not have wrote 1-2 NL online. I said that because thats what i play live, which involves players that usually have no idea what they are doing, at least in Atlantic city, and is much easier than 1-2 NL online. Currently when i play cash, rarely, its 25 NL but, with a job i would probably jump to 50 NL and see how it goes but thanks guys for the advice, appreciate it. yeah the job will definitely be the source of income and maybe i can take a few more shots knowing that my bank account is smaller than my FTP account.
