  1. First of all, I feel like over the last few months my poker skills have improved significantly. Partially due to the help and support of all of the great posters here, and partially due to my research and natural ability. I have been playing for a while and built a decent bankroll, but now life has thrown a bit of a curve ball. My third quarter of college is about to start (Finals next week -.-), and I just got my tuition bill. Now, I have been blessed with good Fortune and have not had to pay much at all for college (normal tuition is 56K -.-) thus far. My parents don't make a ton of money and I got a couple really good scholarships. Anyway, my bill this quarter leaves me paying about 750. I have had to put a deposit on my apartment for next school year already, and that pretty much drained my life roll. So, i'm sure you can see the obvious solution by now. Take off my roll and give it to my school. Note, I haven't asked my parents for help yet, and I honestly don't plan too. Another options is loans, but it seems silly to me to take out loans when I can avoid it. Besides, the bill is coming up in a week and I couldn't get the loan by that time anyway.

If I do decide to take of my roll, it will require me to withdraw all the money in my account. :(... So that would be pretty much end my poker days. I really really really don't want that to happen. Although at this point, it is gunna happen. What should I do. I wish I had a good friend that would spot my the money for either school or poker, but that doesn't happen to be the case. I've played really well of late, but been extremely frustrated, for I have been trying to satty and take a few shots, but keep on getting slapped by variance. Any advice on how I could keep this poker dream alive would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thank you all,
    and Good luck!
  2. Judging by your profile I think you mainly play on FT. Your 90% not gonna be able to cash out within a week to begin with. Start looking for other options IMO.
  3. Yes, you are correct. Most, likely i'll initiate the transaction tonight, just looking for desperation advice. If the transfer is late, they will only charge a $50 late fee, and i'll have another 2 weeks, before the second fee. But at that time, things would get ugly lol.

  4. What's more important...the $750 poker dream, or getting a degree from an apparently prestigious university?

  5. your parents can't loan you $750? or another family member? i did read you said you didn't want to do that, although i dont know why unless you think they cant afford it......

Yeah, I mean if they knew I really needed it they would scrape it up, but honestly, they just don't have it. It's also that, i've never had to ask them to help pay for school yet, and I really want to keep it that way. They are amazing parents, they don't deserve to spend what little money they might be able to pull together on my school.

Grapesfan: Thanks for helping put it into perspective. Yes, the schooling is more important, but I just wanna see if there is any way that I could continue poker too. Thanks!

You can still continue...you'll just be grinding it up from freerolls and FPPs and whatever. People have done it before, and maybe you can be the next.

  8. Thanks for the advice, just withdrew it all except for $19. So pissed, just lost AA to J 10 all in pre-flop for 35K in MiniFtops 1, this is probably a good thing, if you knew how bad I actually run.

Why not? I withdraw via echeck and get my withdrawals in 2 days.
  10. gl to you sir with whatever you decide to do.
  11. Take out a small student loan. It's easy to get a loan as long as you're at an accredited college and interest is deferred until after graduation. I took out loans for most of undergrad and in all honesty, it's not that bad.
  12. Good call with the cashout. Sucks to zero out your account but obviously school is the priority. A few times I've built an $800 roll on a $100 deposit, depending on the risk you're willing to take you might have to play very small stakes but it can be done.

    glgl
  13. Thanks for the support guys. Its gunna be a long battle from $19 dollars, but hopefully I can make something happen early on. It just sucks cause I feel like i'm "due" for a score in a bigger buy in game.

Didn't say it was impossible but there are shit tons of people waiting months for cash outs. I just wouldn't want to have to rely on FT to pay my tuition.
  15. Get a job on campus, save some and redeposit if need be. Don't be disheartened by this, but never play with money that you need for school. gl
  16. Yeah, I have a job right now, but it's work study and I only get about 8 hours a week. Which is about all I have time for. So I have a small income, most of which goes to train tickets home on breaks. I'll start saving now tho. lol

Oh, so I bought in to the $1 rebuy but didn't add one. Was doing well and then this happens, just to make things better. lol Just wow, what can I do.
