  1. If I have the second shortest stack at the ft should I play aggressive or very tight? In this situation moving up a spot would = about 5% of my BR. Does that matter or should I just play to win?

I am working on building up but have a very small BR right now.
  2. Classic poker answer- it depends.

How many chips do you have? What are the blinds? How many less chips does the shortest stack have than you? How many more chips do the next couple bigger stacks have than you? What are their positions in relation to you? How have THEY been playing, tight or aggressive? How have the biggest stacks been playing, tight or aggressive (need to know so you can figure out a range of hands that you can push with)? How many players are left (is this the beginning of the final table, or are you down to like 5)?

In general though, if you are the second shortest stack when the final table begins, and the blinds are getting high (like average stack is say 12 or 13 BBs or less), it's time to get aggressive. You have more to lose by letting yourself get blinded down.
  3. It definitely depends, but you should be aggressive in most situations. Don't steal with trash from early position, but when you have a chance to steal with a reasonable hand (ie small pp or suited connectors or better hands) you should probably go for it in late or even middle position unless the short stack is all-in on the bb very soon or some other unique situation has come up. The aggression may help you win, but in this case it's about getting enough chips to move up a few spots and see what happens from there. Moving up a few more spots might increase your BR drastically.
  4. Thanks for the advice guys. I appreciate it. this is the hand I went out on.
so I guess it was the right choice.

  5. this is the opposite of agressive... you need to get all in (best case) pre or fold at some point sir. Keep playing and learning and reading.. gl at the tables

  6. You want to be aggressive, but you dont want to build big pots without the goods. Raise a lot preflop from late position, but if you get played back just give it up.

In this hand you essentially called off your chips. If you reraised preflop instead of calling you would have increased your stack by 30% right there.

  7. so instead of just calling the first bet I should go all in there. and he probably folds.

    thanks again for the input.
