  1. I recently got back into online poker after a pretty long absence due to the birth of my daughter. (I know that most of us on this site aren't parents...wee, I'm an old 29-year-old)

I find myself getting destroyed on stars. It sure seems to me like everyone's playing loose as hell...looser than when I left regular play about a year ago. So I'm playing tight, robot poker. And I am just getting fucked. Check out my Sharkscope...it's a fricking ski slope.

Any advice? Anyone else go through the same thing? Is the problem my play? (Probably.)
  2. Well first off, mix up your game when playing. also try learning new games, O8 S8 stud razz horse, you may find something you like and are good at in the process. If you dont feel comfortable playing on stars play on FTP they have been doing amazing things with thier site :) GL
  3. I do like Stud 8. I've found it to be pretty easy, too.

Maybe that's the answer, maybe not.

Anyone else in the same boat as myself?

  4. I imagine after such a long time away you have probably forgotten some things and don't remember how to play a winning style. You should brush up on some books you may have read and go over your hand histories and figure out how you could have played better. People playing looser is not necesarily a bad thing and is just something you have to adjust to. Read some strategy articles on p5's, they have some good ones on SnG play and don't blame it all on bad variance because it most likely isn't. You should be able to endure some bad beats and still be a winning player. I've endured multiple bad beats in a single sng and still won, so don't blame it on the cards. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.
  5. what stakes are you playing?
  6. I don't use SharkScope but your OfficialPokerRankings data shows you doing better in 2008 so far than 2007 or 2006. Just keep doing what you are doing. If you do not have it I suggest you get PokerTracker.

    Good luck!
  7. Thanks for the advice, everyone. I think I figured it out.

Everyone in the $12/180 turbos is retarded.

After remembering that fact, I have been doing better.

  8. probably one of the worst tourneys to come back to due to the nasty varience. i would try to play some 45 man non turbos to see how your play is before moving on to a tourney where even seasoned veterans experience nasty downswings (30-50 buy-ins)
