  1. i play pretty well untill the bubble breaks then i kinda freeze up on when i should be moving chips around cause people go crazy with there calls i know the shorties are looking to get allin but the bigger stacks are calling down with some junk also i know is some tournies the bubble breaks with like 3 tables left like the bodog $50 i played last night so i was looking for that edge to get my money in and gamble for first (which i did 99 vs 77 and got sucked out on finishing 23 for $84) but at the same time i was playing the stars $20 wich payed 90 spots and i don't know when to start gambling here and i usally get grinded down cause there is an all in or 2 every hand. in last nights i finished 45th when i repoped the button from the SB with AQ and he woke up with AK (which when i look PT seems like everytime i have AQ AK is dealt LOL)
  2. I tend to play looser before the bubble stealing as much as I can from shorter stacks that are obviously attempting to limp into the money, then after the bubble I play pretty tight, but I'll still call a short stack all-in with something like AQ or 99.
  3. if your goal is just to make it into money u will never have sucess.
if i have a decent hand, decent read (note) on a player and feel it as if he is stealing
or just trying to bully my i raise or push even harder to make him worry.
i am in a tourney to win it not to come in and make chump change.
if i lose 31st with only 30 getting paid i dont complain because i know i put myself
in a good position and i would of won the hand (make sure its a decent hand AQ,AK, pp)
that hand would of put me in top 10.
  4. I suggest you not worry about the psychology of the "stage" of the tournament... instead, worry about how the players at YOUR table are REACTING to a certain stage of the tournament. You need to group players into:

    1) Very tight -- wants to make the money
    2) Loose/Raising often - abusing the bubble
    3) No read

If you can successfully put 2 or 3 players at YOUR table in the "very tight" category, then steal their blinds.

If you can successfully put 2 or 3 players into the "loose" category, then reraise them.

On other words, optimize your strategy against the INDIVIDUAL players at your table. This is easy advice to give but hard to follow. It's hard to follow for the following reasons:

    1) Sometimes it may be tough to get good reads on players.
    2) The money bubble (or just being deep in a tournament) creates a "feeling of pressure" where one usually withdraws within themself psychologically. In other words, you stop reading other players and worry too much about your OWN cards and your OWN situation. Do not let this happen to you.
  5. orioles you make a good point i never looked at the game like that opened up a whole new window thanks alot.

but alot of you guys are talking about bubble play my bubble play i feel has come leaps and bounds i have no problem busting in 31st outta 30 paying. from alot i read and here you should be looking to get your money in with 2-3 tables left to try and make a strong run for the FT but in alot of these stars tournies when 90+ pay right after the bubble people go ape shit with there calls and pushes and if i run card dead you just can;t steal with crap cause you will get looked up with the crazyest junk and i can't see going broke with an avg.+ stack racing when where still 7-8 tables from the FT. or am i playing it all wrong do these types of tournies dictate this kind of mad gambling once the bubble breaks and becomes a crap shot?
