  2. Shove and then hit the jack when he flips over AK.

  3. shove it in! at 30 BB a 3 bet=shove and GL. lol^
  4. It's actually shoving 17 effective (or 18 if the BB calls), so shoving isn't terrible.

I would 3-bet/call, probably raising to about 29-31k. I prefer a 3-bet/call to an open shove because if you make the 3-bet small enough, the villain may think he has room to shove over the top. Villain's 4-bet range is likely wider than his calling range, so allowing him room to 4-bet expands his range and increases your equity. In addition, he's 4-betting any hands that he's calling with, so jamming only causes him to fold hands we beat and call with hands that AJo doesnt play as well against.

I doubt any semi-competent player will 4-bet shove lighter than they would call a shove in this spot with stack sizes. Hero 3-bets to 29k and the pot is 54k, villain shoves and pot is 126k. Hero has to call 56k to win 126k which is 2.25 to 1 pot odds. Hero needs roughly 31 percent equity. If I was Villain and wanted to continue with the bottom of my range I would flat his 3-bet close my eyes and shove the flop. This way you give yourself a chance to win the pot without a showdown.

    Good point.

Serious question -- how would you define the average random in a $10 MTT? Because I think you can induce a shove from broadway and weak aces from a lot of players in these tournaments. I don't know how often these players think about the pots odds/even understand them. At what point does the average player become good enough that this doesn't work? $25 FOs? $50 FOs?
