  7. meant to reply to other guy saying he would end up folding
  8. aks in this situation is a bit tough: it seems to weak to fold it, because there is a non-negligible chance he has jj or qq or ak and then the correct play is the shove; and of course there is a solid chance he has the kk or dreaded aa and then fold.

and of course in an mtt to make the FT you need some how manage to chip up so you dont play for 5 hrs only to have a 10 bb stack inside the money and make no real profit: the play of AK is a good example of how you can manage to make the FT with a stack vs. playing for hours only to reach deep with no stack.

I think with big risks comes big rewards: unless I have some evidence my opp is tight I seriously consider shoving the ak, knowing that: he will (hopefully) fold jj and ak if he was making a move; and if he has kk u have a 30% chance to win when he calls. and if you have a coin flip becuase he decides to call with the jj or qq, I think that's just fine.

If I feel the guy's range is qq, kk and aa with almost 0% chance of a bluff of any sort, sure fold.
So may will say, "Fold". I think hat's too simplistic. You need a stack so you can abuse bubbles and continue to chip up; getting to the final table and the final three involves taking risks: this case just might be one of them.

  9. one more thing: for the people who say that raise MUST be kk, AA only. I have made raises like that in this type of case with XX when I had seen evidence that the raiser seemed to be 1) a good player and 2) had shown evidence he could fold what were likly semi-strong hands.

of course in this very specific type of case the guy sometimes shoves back, and then I fold caught with my hand in the cookie jar; but in this specific case the folds FAR outnumber the calls AND the next time I make a pre flop move with the goods, it is that much more likly to get action.

  10. I believe this decision should DEFINITELY be made preflop-with AK you wanna see 5 cards not 3... Obviously this guy is going to push here on pretty much any flop... Having 45 bbs I would cut my losses and fold unless the min raiser had shown that he was spewy at best...
  11. Also take into account this is WSOP event, hour levels, only in the 2nd hour of play. Players start with 4500 in chips. Most players are pretty nitty in the opening levels or these events (my table's first 4 hours of the 1k event #4 had no allins). I think you can pretty solidly put him on QQ or better and fold. unless you have other information. 37BBs is still a very workable stack.
  12. The quotable quote on this I got from a guy at the main event wearing a bracelet & working a monster stack was "AK is a snake, it will turn and bite you!" Remember you can't win in the early levels, you can only bust out. The long slow levels are one of the biggest differences between majors and online or small buy local tournys. This is a VERY different game than one with 12 or 15 min levels maybe 12 hands per level where the average stack is 12 to 15 BB an hour in :) With 40 or more hands per level you aren't in any great hurry to get 40 or 50 BBs in the middle to flip early on. Thats why lots of the regular TV faces play small ball for the most of the first 2/3s of the bigger tournys. Think about it more like a cash game with 50 or 100 BBs and all night to find the right spots - no hury at all to flip you stack away :)

You didn't say anything about reads or table images or the cards that fell so we can't really get into the good part. I say the line here is pot control - more like reraise to 500. You have position & lots of chips vs. blinds, no reason to be afraid to play a little poker here.

    my 2 cents
  13. foldddddddddddddddd, people are nitt this early and theres like a 0.0000001% chance hes making a move here.
