  1. Recently, a buddy of mine was playing in a live tournament in Florida. He described a hand to me in which he called an all-in raise for his tournament life and he was eliminated from the tourney. I have my own opinions about the hand, but I'd like some feedback from other people about this hand.

    The Hand!
My buddy is in early position, say 3rd or 4th to act. The blinds are 300/600 and he has about 18K in chips. There's a small stack at the table, with about 7K in chips. The small stack has been pushing all-in quite frequently. The small stack is 1st to act, and he pushes all-in for 7K. My buddy is next to act, and he just smooth calls the 7K, while holding AK of diamonds. Everyone else folds around to the small blind, who goes all in for more than 18K, and he has my buddy covered. With 11K left and it being early in the tournament, what would you do, and why? Please provide some feedback on this hand. Thanks, and I'll let you know what he did, and how the hand turned out.

  2. shove after initial shover, flatting sucks, let other people make decisions
  3. Your friend's stack size doesn't allow much latitude here; he should have pushed himself, which has the advantage of driving out some hands AK might not wish to face, such as 88-JJ. It's also best not to play AK out of position, and jamming obviates that.
  4. Iso raise - all in is the way to go.
  5. All the above advice i agree with
  6. i also agree with the advice above.
  7. ditto...ship when it comes to your friend

  8. I think the only good play here is to push it all in.
  9. Agree with the above. 8k pot iso shove, you want to see all five cards and don't want any callers/reshoves
