Id back threeven in a heartbeat.
-
I understand getting back for live tournies like WSOP and WPT events, but online it seems that you have so many choices as far as buyin levels that playing while staked should not be a longterm plan.
-
im not backed, never have been, nobody has ever offered to back me
-
Tourny players don't beat cash games.

Obviously there are going to be exceptions, but in most cases my statement is likely to be correct.

...I can only imagine trust is a key issue.
2% of the world's population are scum bag con artists; these 2% (wild guess by-the-by... maybe I am a pessimist, maybe it's 1%?) make trust among people who know each other "a bit" all but impossible.
o well. that's the internet age for yeah.

I've played backed a good bit. It's been a good experience for the most part. It makes poker much less stressful which for me tends to lead to good results at the table and a more relazed lifestyle away from it. I've also backed a number of other players from time to time.

I'm backed by Visa and MasterCard!
Seriously though, how does backing work? If you take down a huge MTT like lots of the top players to, or if you make sick coin, like the top players do, wouldn't it seem like you wouldn't need backing anymore? I can understand backing if someone goes broke but I don't understand top players needing backed. Anyone? -
I'm not backed, but no one thinks i'm good. I guess you need to play 100000 tourneys a week for people to think you're good.
-
im backed for tournaments but play cash games on my own, and probably spend about 75% of my time playing cash. my backers are not any of the major backing operations out there.
-
the couple of times i won contests in ot to be backed, i played poorly bc i was more concerned about letting the backer down or making them think that they had made a mistake
-
jeffbeesdat and quassi will you back me plzzzzzzzzzzzzz....lolz
-
I am backed online and live.
-
Im not backed.......and never have been for online play. Live events 5k and up I would consider......But Im still debating whether to buy in myself or try and get sponsored for aruba.
-
It depends on what tournaments you're getting backed for. If you can roll some $1k buyins or $100 rebuys into the tournaments you are backed for it can be a value. You are definitly giving up a % of your profits but it's usually a reasonable tradeoff if it gets you into tournaments you couldnt otherwise justify based on your own bankroll.

jjprodigy declined to back me after I begged on my knees.
-
You see, the thing is... my back is located on top of my @&*#%.
-
I'm backed in mtts, chose to do it so that I can keep playing the same tournaments regardless of downswings etc., and also so I can focus more on qualifying for live events and not worry about the hit that can put on your bankroll.
I agree with an earlier post that talks about the stress relief- to each his/her own, but for me it's worth giving up some of my profits to not have to stress about your bankroll. -
If you're good backing just cuts into your profits.
But you probably lead a less stressful lifestyle. -
im backed by a top player (and a really good friend) but only because i recently went busto online and i can't transfer money online either, so he decided to stake me.
