  1. From an article yesterday,

The good news is only one of these poker allies has a real chance of losing tomorrow, but it could be a big deal.

Menendez (pictured at right) recently introduced S 3616, which would provide the framework for the licensing of online poker, among other skill games. He faces Republican challenger Tom Kean, Jr., in a race that has tightened up.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll, Menendez leads Kean 49-44 percent, making it one of the tightest of the races for Congressional seats listed above. If Menendez loses, it would be a blow to online poker, as well as the Poker Players Alliance. The PPA worked with Menendez to write S 3616, and if voters kick him out of office, the PPA would lose a major ally.

I'm pretty sure he won in 2006 making him not up for reelection until 2012. What am I missing?

  6. Senators elected in the year 2006, will be up for re-election in 2012. Senators elected in 2008 will be up for reelection in 2014. Meanwhile, senators elected in 2010 will be up for reelection in 2016.

  7. I googled Quinnipiac University poll for Menendez-Kean and even found one that was 49-44 (poll results varied at different times taken). LOL --- the 49-44 one was October 31st, 2006. And all other such Menendez - Kean events were indeed 2006.

I have no idea where Bob Pajich (Cardplayer article) is coming from. Pretty weird comments.
