The 20 pre-flop was missclick so ignore that, although I do feel it actually helped me to narrow his range here. I figure he SHOULD only have AA / KK / QQ / AK preflop, although I know that's not necessarily true. I figure I can rule out AK on the flop when he calls my reraise, but that MAY not be true either depending on his (unknown) level of play. I figure he doesn't make the bet on the river with KK... so that leaves me with only AA / QQ. Easy fold, right? Or against an unknown should u just never make this laydown? I didn't really think twice before folding it, so maybe I didn't think it through hard enough. I showed hoping he'd show, but meta-game, I realize that's a mistake. -

reminds me of when I saw you agonize over callling with 88833 in monster pot cash game at Bellagio... ;) (1 yr ago this weekend, I'll be there all night again this Sat)... that time you made the right call with 8's full, and probably made an ok fold here... even if you were ahead and laid down the winner, you have such an edge in equity over this field that there's no way it's a bad fold if that is your read...
P.S. Beth Shak is smokin' on ESPN in the 46suited event.... -
i dont think u can rule out akhh on that flop dunno if hed river push that tho
-
Why check the turn? What did this accomplish but make you look weak and give him a free card? You show weakness , perhaps he bets the river thinking he can fold your seemingly weak holding?
If u bet the turn you have a better read for sure. I feel alot of guys try and take down the pot after that regardless of their hand. I am not buying into a loss here....if it is I personally chalk up a trny set over set to pure cooler.
PJ you are the Man so I am just curious as to you thought process here on the turn. An unknown could reraise a wide range preflop. If you are unsure don't you have to bet for info??? You didnt have a real chance to define your hand and you fold a set???
I am not half the player you are soooo.....It must be something more advanced I am not seeing? -
absolutely 100% bone-a-fide nutzo.
but you are also pj. -
The only bad play that I see for sure is logging in to UB

Im a nit... there, i said it -
Fold's like this make you better than the rest of us... After reading this I thought maybe he had an over pair like 9/9 or 10/10 with the straight draw but i'm most likely wrong or wishful thinking with a set. GL to you Pearl. Akeem

total hijack but def shows me why im such a super donk...wow, gf_15
-
I misread the hand the first time. If you put him on AA you played the hand perfectly. Trust your instinct. The overbet on the river means he has the nuts, or doesn't want a call. IMO he played the hand badly if he wanted a call.
-
I think the call could be +ev, AK reraises there especially at low limits (probably a wider range of hand given his position)
i think you'll see floats on that flop with position enough.
read dependent.
I don't mind the fold -
Why did you show of interest?
-
Yes, but apparently in a mad genius sort of way.
-
There are any number of hands he plays the exact same way.
- He plays any missed flush draw this way, since you both checked the turn, he represents the ace if he believes he can use it as a scare card since you checked behind on the turn.
- He plays an underset the same way
- He plays AK this way potentially, especially AhKh, although most would play for their stack with AhKh on that flop.
I don't see how long term you can ever like folding a flopped top set to a feared overset on the turn. Your just gonna have to bust me...
Gl,
Chris. -
You hit trips 888 on flop into a board that could be yeilding a straight draw. Doubt he has 910 cuz he wouldnt check. You have best hand here and would NEVER fold that.
