  1. Is there anyone else out there that can't manage their bankroll for shit? I mean, I try and try and try, but no matter what i do I can never commit myself to only play in games that are over 15-20x my cashier. It's like everytime i get up in money i feel this urge to play $500 and $200 HU's, sometimes for 1/3 of my bankroll in the $500s. I have worked up a good amount of money (like 1kish) multiple times in a day or two, but then lose it all the next day in like 3 hours because I'm retarded.

This has happened AT LEAST 5 times to me, and I'm thinking I'll never learn. I know this is usually a common problem for most people, but I feel like I should be over it by now. Did anyone else struggle with this like I am now? I just feel the compulsive need to put huge amounts of my bankroll on the line, and I'm not learning from my mistakes.

I'm still a very winning player overall since I've started online, but I think I'm gonna hafto hang up the mouse for now and call it quits for awhile. It seems pointless to play because now, when I do win, I just go in over my head and throw it all away again. It's funny, when you go on a rush and get used to $500 and $1000 HU games, it's hard to NOT play them again.

Any advice to help me stop being a retard is greatly appreciated.

  2. I also own at having bad BR management... I've gotten to where if I hit a pretty decent score, I'll withdraw about half of it immediately... Don't want to tempt myself... -Sok
  3. My old roomate was jewish so I learned a lot from him. :)
  4. look in the strategy achives and read the BR management info.

and use the Search function and look at old threads for some good advice too.

Lots of players have this problem.
  5. It's called self control. If you're a winning player at the tables then you must have it, so find out how to channel it into your BR management. I've experienced the same issue -- mind you it was once. I was up 1kish in my BR and simply cash tabled it away retardly. What am I doing now? Nothing. Freerolls. When I win a round 2 freeroll on 'stars I'll be back building my BR. Until then? I refuse to deposit again. If I do, it's a vicious circle. Maybe consider it like that -- if it's gone, it's gone. And trust me, sitting through fucking freerolls to start a BR again is NO good, especially when you know you have the ability to sit down at SNGs and take folks on a run, especially when considering the large field of freerolls and the minimum payout... it's just not enjoyable.
  6. You don't need advice, you just need common sense. I don't mean it as an insult, but I mean... just read your post, it's obvious. Play a little lower and build it a little slower, if you keep this up you will absolutely NEVER EVER EVER EVER build a bankroll, unless you go on a 100% win streak in your HU matches.

And for the millionth time... "Read Fox's article on bankroll management"
  7. that's the thing though, I don't think I have any self control. I only began playing online seriously in June, and I made all of my income, which was significant, from June to mid-December. I haven't won anything since. I think that overall, I will be a losing player, simply because of my lack of self control, and I have no clue how to gain self control.

  8. Maybe set up a playing structure for yourself?

Like... play 4 $50 HU matches/day until you get your BR to a certain level, then move up. Something like that, know what I mean?
  9. And reading Fox's article isn't all that helpful. I know all the rules, I know HOW to manage a bankroll, I just can't. I was looking for an answer more along the lines of "O yeah! I had that problem once, and this is what i did: I gave $5 to my wife everytime i played in a game over my head, and it really fixed my game" You know, something along those lines.

  10. everytime you win big, just send a percentage to me and ill hold it for ya lol
  11. are you under the age of 18? im being serious. You probably just have that gamble mentality.
  12. I've just recently turned 19, and unfortunately you're probably right about the gamble mentality, at least in my case. However! I've undeniably thrown that out the window and all that is in my mind now is building a solid BR so that I never have to suffer this freeroll business again.
  13. im under 18 and i def have that gamble mentality you speak of, yea i sucka t br management, but im getting bettter, gonna try to get it up over say 500 before i move up in cash games, altho im already cmmitting 50 of my br at a table, im just confident enough in myself that i know i can win if im patient.

when you feel the need to tilt play play money its easy, or better go play a video game, preferrably violent.
