    JDeEzLy: ???????

I have a note on the guy that he made pretty big raises twice, and both times he showed a premium (AK and KK). But is he really making this play with QQ+? I could've easily been making a steal raise with nothing.
  2. Do you really want to risk 40xBB (80% of your remaining stack) hoping that you are right and at best race at this stage? You have a read that he made big raises twice with AK and KK...you have lots of chips and all the info you need to fold here with confidence.

  3. JDeEzLy: raises 2700 to 3000

after this I dont know what to tell you. You never have the best hand here. This raise looks like AK to me but then again, you are really never a favorite. Unless of course he saw your raise as AK and wanted to put pressure on you with 10s for example.
  4. ^^^Agree

You should be pretty sure he's not doing this with AJ or TT...so you are never gonna like whatever hand he shows when you call here. QQ would be harder to fold but with your read i think that hand is more borderline than JJ against this guy, nice laydown imo.
  5. Agreed. Given your read and the action, I think AK is at the bottom of his range. JJ obv doesn't do well against AA/KK/QQ/AK. Small chance he has the other JJ too, but that's pretty irrelevant.

  6. 1. I really hate your initial raise here

    JDeEzLy: raises 2700 to 3000

    when

    JDeEzLy: raises 900 to 1200
    or
    JDeEzLy: raises 1200 to 1500

would have been just as effective, and actually looks a little stronger. Your raise screams "Please go away", ie, AK, AQ, 99-JJ.

    2. This is a $3 tournament, his range is probably 88-AA, AK, and AQ

    3. When you raise a 5th of your stack there you should be doing so with the intention of calling a push.

    4. You can fold and have a decent stack remaining.
  7. ^^joke post???

4 limps in front of him and you think raising to 1200 or 1500 is a better play? WTF? Are you raising to 1200 in this spot with AA? KK? ANY hand for that matter? Yay, let's give all the limpers as much implied odds as possible.

Depending on how active/loose the table had been you MAY want to call a push from one of those limpers once it comes back around to them (assuming everyone acting after you folds, which is usually the case). For example, say all the limpers fold after your raise but "alan no2" (the last of the limpers) decides to call or push over top. That's an insta call, you have his range crushed, you've got great odds against AK/AQ, and if you lose it's only half your stack.

Also, no one has mentioned a limp here with JJ. How i'd play this hand would depend largely on how the table was playing.

but given that it's a microdonkament...

    big raise>limp>>>>>>>small raise

  8. Thanks for the backup shane.

Anyways, I just decided that there was no way my JJ was ahead of his range there, and I was coinflipping at best, and I'm not flipping for so much of my stack in that spot. He showed QQ.

And I got one more question for you lot:

I would assume flat calling is out of the question, given the stack sizes, so am I supposed to fold or shove here?

ETA: No reads. This was literally the first hand I played at the table (just got moved). I usually hate playing the first hand...

  9. First hand I think is a GLD. You're either flipping or a huge dog.

Second hand is tricky. With no reads you could make a case for folding.
  10. The second hand is just one of those situations that come up all the time that you hate. You have no idea where you're at, you pretty much have no fold equity, and you're praying to be a coinflip... but in micros you just never know. Would you be shocked if you pushed, he called, and he flipped over something like AJ, A10, KQ, etc? I wouldn't.

However, lately in the smaller tournaments I've been seeing a lot of people raising 4x the BB with stronger hands. Not exactly sure why, maybe it's just coincidence that it's happened a lot at the tables I've been at over the past few weeks, but it seems like they're always tabling AA/KK/QQ/AK.

Anyway, unless this guy had been opening up a lot, I'm mucking. How'd it turn out?
