Andy McLeod #18 in Pro Poll?

    Is there any reason for this? Why do the pros rank him so lowly? He's 3rd on the sliding leaderboard & has proven over the last 6 months he's capable of putting up consistent results.

    It might be hard to argue his overall ranking should be higher than it is, since there's a ton of great players in the top 10, but I think he's highly underrated in the pro poll, where he should be at least 5-6 spots higher IMO.

    Then again, maybe that's what makes the pro's, pro's & me just... me. :).

    One of the things I've consistently heard from voters when I talk to them is that it's really hard to rank the top 25 or so---they're all great players who can win big on any given day. I'm looking at the top 10, for instance, and I think every one of them deserves to be highly ranked. There are also plenty of others in the same boat. It's really hard to say who's better than who, and it might start to give people an idea of what it was like for us to do that ourselves for years before coming out with the automated system. One thing seems to be becoming more and more of a concensus---Imper1um is the top dog.

    Imper1um certainly deserves to be the top dog!

    I was just surprised that Andy didn't spike after winning the FTOPS event (on the back of other huge scores in 07). But having a look at it now, it seems his average has come down from 25 last week (from memory) to 21 this week, however, it only results in a jump of 1 spot.

    Having said that, I still think there might be a few above him who are perhaps living on past glory. Then again, some are crushing in live play, which might weigh on voters minds, too.

    Good to hear there are a few (and I'm sure more than a few) of the top pro's ranking Andy in their top 10.

    while i think this is certainly true, it is much easier just ranking the people by what they have done recently and who is on the top of their online games _right now_. for example, i think brsavage is easily one of the very best players in any given tournament he plays online. however, he doesn't play as much as he used to so i have some players that may not be in br's league from a talent perspective but are putting up more #s at this point in time. just as i have 1mper1um ranked #1 now while i wouldn't say he is neccesarily the very best player online in the abstract.

    ...i hope that makes sense.

    Yep - makes perfect sense. So you're ranking them based on their overall performance, rather than purely who you'd least like to see sitting on your left?

    Also - BOOOOOOOOOOO @ no mention of Andy on P5's FTOPS wrap-up on the front page!

    I will admit i might be biased towards players i play against alot, and try to give more credit to those i know are playing a lot live which takes away from their online time.

    So someone like an Andy would be disadvantaged because he doesn't play every day... right?

    I think my query is how is Andy's avg score in the 20's when some have him top 10 & even top 5. Does that mean to make that balance some have him in the 30's? And a lot in the high-teens-low 20's range?

    Surely not! I can't see how he could possibly be below about 15th. But again, just my opinion, and I'm no pro. :).

    Still grumpy at the no love from P5's FTOPS article though.

    im failing to see your confusion. its all a differenece of opinion as are most things in this world. some people thought that ohio state was the best team in college basketball, some thought it was florida, some thought it was north carolina, some even thought it was kansas.........see my point? there no real way to judge for sure considering they dont play the same exact schedule at the same exact time. there are variables and these polls dont really account for them because it would be very dificult to do so. so people having different opinions is perfectly normal and will be present with most everything in life. get used to it.

    Sure - that's fair. And I'm not expecting that *everyone* would have Andy at a certain spot in their ranking. What I'm saying is that no one had OSU, Florida, UNC or Kansas ranked at 30, did they?

    For everyone who is saying Andy is in their top 5 or 10, it means someone is at the other end of the spectrum ranking him in the high 20's or 30's or perhaps even lower.

    With the success he's had in 2007, I just don't see how anyone could rank him that low, that's all. So I wondered if there was a pro who had him ranked lowly that would care to explain why they did, or if people could speculate as to why he might be ranked lowly on some people's pro polls.

    dinj just create your own top 10 and that should put you to rest, like adam said you look at the top 10 or 15 and you think jesus such and such is so good but so he and theres annette etc., so the thigns that are gonna weigh are like in isucks or some other personal experience or personal like/dislike

    thanks for the props -- that being said honestly, i'll never complain about where i'm at in the top, say, 30 or even more because just about everyone in it is great. Some of the days i play I dont play well for various reasons, and I think any pro-poll voter has every right to vote me as lowly in the propoll as they want, because often i'm sure my play doesn't deserve much higher.
