  1. (from her blog) (please don't flame me for actually reading her blog...lol)

The other player who made a definite impression was Annette_15. She won the main event cashing over $2 million. Pretty nice payday for an 18 year old, no? She is the youngest player ever to win a bracelet and deservedly so. As I said during the event when asked, if she is this good now, at 18, I shudder to think how good she will be in 5 or 10 years. I don't think I have ever seen someone that young with that much talent and feel. She never loses her composure at the table and has amazing instincts. Combine that with the fact that I don't think the other players knew what to do with her and she was scary to watch. I don't think I was talented at anything when I was 18, much less world class talented. She is not even 20 and is already a terrifying player and one of the most talented I have ever seen. In 5 to 10 years holy crap! I don't ever want her on my left again because I will get outplayed. That I know for sure.
  2. Who is Annie Duke?
  3. very nice of a well known pro to say something good about a young online player.
  4. It really is scary.

  5. At least she isn't as delusional as the majority of the "live pro's".
  6. "I don't ever want her on my left again because I will get outplayed. That I know for sure."

I think this is the definition of ownage.
  7. Nice response from one classy player to another.
  8. Yeah Annie is pretty damn classy at times, I have a hard time buying that act though because of her involvement in past episodes like the Shannon Elizabeth/Steve Danneman playboy manison charity tourney scandal, and the Gank mucked cards scandal, etc etc, but this was nice of her to say and suprisingly honest.
  9. the only thing more "terrifying" than annette15 is annie duke's writing style.
  10. I actually just gained a good deal of respect for Annie Duke after reading that...
  11. At last the pro's realize that the online players are actually mucho better than them :)
  12. Dude I missed all this what was it about?
  13. I didn't read that, all I saw was one live pro saying she was very impressed with an internet pro.
  14. Over/Under on how long is takes for Clonie to coincidently write the same thing Annie did?
  15. "I will get outplayed. That I know for sure."
  16. I'd be willing to put money down that Annie doesn't think this, she is just saying it to emphasize a point.

At any rate this was well said and by a well know player. Annie definately deserves some respect for voicing this opinion.
  17. I'm sure annie is smart enough to know that Annette is better than her.
  18. Basically, an anonymous guy, Shannon Elizabeth, and Steve Danneman are 3 handed in a charity tourney at the playboy mansion. First pays 2 WSOP ME seats, 2nd is some dream golf vacation for the US Open, 3rd is an expensive TV. So they play 3 handed for a while, eventually someone from the playboy mansion tells them they need to wrap it up and the event coordinator tells the last 3 players they are going to distribute the prizes based on chipcounts in like 30 minutes(maybe lore maybe less, this story is all off the memory of a guy that smokes reefer a lot, but I still have a pretty sharp memory).

Steve Danneman is pretty wasted according to several witnesses, and Annie Duke is basically playing his cards for him (looking at hi shole cards then giving him advice on what to do). So after the E.C. notifies the players that 30 minutes are left in the tourney, Shannon Elizabeth gets Annie Duke to get Steve Danneman to basically fold all of his hands so the 3rd person in the tourney can't possibly win. Oh yeah Shannon had the chiplead and Steve was 2nd but they all had fairly close stacks but the blind structure made it impossible for the 3rd guy to move up if Shannon and Steve just folded to cash.
  19. One big live win does not a make a great poker player. When Annette wins a WSOP braclet in 3-4 years, I'll say shes better. Until then she's not on the same playing field as the live game pros (not talent wise, but she just can't compete yet and the WSOPE < WSOP).

She's got game and she will be great, but let's wait a few years and find out just how great before we start saying she's better than accomplished poker pros.
  20. She is more accomplished than 90% of the "acomplished pros" you are talking about. How many final tables do you think Annie duke has made in events with more than 2000 entrants compared to annette?

    Lol @ wsope < wsop.....
  21. Online poker does not compare to live poker. They are two completely different games. Skill sets are different. Online poker plays much FASTER than live poker. Annie Duke, whether you want to admit it or not, is a top tier player in the live game arena. Annette has conquered the online poker scene. The two will be clashing alot in 4 years, let's see what happens then.

As for the WSOPE < WSOP here's some food for thought.

    1) More 18-21 year olds who think of themselves as "Great" poker players will take a shot and miss. Not to mention the fact that Annette will have way more experience than any of them.

    2) Consensus seems to be that the average European player is weaker than the average US player.

Let's stop drinking the kool-aid and have a little patients, Annette is a few years away from showing what she can really do.
  22. dtools are you serious?

how is annette not considered an accomplished poker pro?
  23. 2) Consensus seems to be that the average European player is weaker than the average US player.

    Consensus from who?!
  24. Kirk Morrison als praised Annette's game and in fact picked her to win before the FT started. Beth Shak seems to be the only person who doesn't think much of her game, but that's probably because she is not intelligent enough to comprehend the level of Annette's play.
  25. US players obviously
  26. edit: damn double posts

  27. This post raised my respect for Annie Duke. Not that she cares if I respect her or not...lol

  28. Respect or not, she still needs to buy a belt, desperately.

  29. What the hell are you talking about? Many have said that the WSOPE main event had one of the toughest fields in any event, ever.
