  3. If successful poker players would not have helped Rizen in his poker education, Im sure he wouldnt be as good as he is today.

The reason he is writting this is to return the favor, and help people get better at poker. The money this article will cost him (because players will be that less fishy in his games) is insignificant compared to the +Karma returns he will get ;)

Thanks to Pocketfives and Rizen for this article!
  4. Put in to words what most of us probably felt. I know that I've played "by the book" too much and easily beaten. Thanks for coming forward with your insights.
  5. I couldn't agree more. The Harrington books really opened my eyes to how tournament poker should be played, but I'm definately not the only one and adjustments need to be made to keep playing that top level.
  6. Agree completly, very good article...An example is the slow play, you cant just sigh and check monsters anymore- that was the hip play for awhile and the masses became weary of being slow played- so the best players were betting big in position with flopped trips and getting paid off by people who thought they were just continuation betting. Also the guy posts a while back how bad this players call wall after he was reshoved on in a sit and go bubble and he calls the reraise with good odds with AJ (over the top player had total rags) and the guy posts that the AJ shouldve folded- but the point was they keeped playing the same way- push botting on the bubble like JohhnyBax in 94- but the masses got hip to this like rizen said and thier calling range increases especially if your image is bad...cause youve been Xfactoring pots left and right....its still the best way to play- but your gonna get called more now a days..

Actually, I don't think anyone can be HURT by reading Harrington, and in order to recognize and exploit the opportunities Rizen is talking about, you have to have a strong foundation in basic poker theory and Harrington in particular since it is such a widely popular book.

  8. Awesome article, thank you!

Anytime I read anything a hugely successful player advocates and stuff in there I have found I'm already doing, gives me confidence. Thanks : )
  9. Brilliant article.

For anyone not on PokerXFactor, Rizen's videos are simply put, AMAZING. He is a natural born teacher. (I am just a subscriber to the site, nothing to gain from anyone else joining, in fact, do me a favor, don't join ;) )

  11. This is a superb article regarding short stack play in light of Harrington, but I guess the next issue becomes beating the "Harrington 'bots" in final table play. The start would be the mixing-it-up style of play of a player like Gavin Smith, or another suggestion I've heard recently, which is to call call call, rather than re-raise. Let the bots bet their biggies into better made hands.
