Wow, a rare frankthetank inacurrate post. By law they cannot take out of the prizepool for charity. It is a recommended donation of 50%, but no, they cannot force you to donate anything
I believe there was a case last year where someone swore they wouldn't donate a dime if they won because they thought there was some injustice that they wanted corrected first, but the guy didn't win anyway

not sure what others donated, but Phil Gordon, who won, donated 100% of his winnings (which was around 130k). He comes across as a tool on camera, but that is an obviously really nice gesture.
