  1. that would suck so hard
  2. Harrah's rly needs to figure their shit out. Picking your start day and having them heavily unbalanced because of this is retarded.
  3. Anyone who just waits til the absolute last minute to try to register is a moron anyways.

I agree. It's going to be interesting to see the others that didn't get in.

very good point, but gotta slide these big names in somewhere

sigh gg cookier maybe next year
  7. They just posted this:

Mickey Appleman will miss his first main event in 30 years. Tom Franklin, Minh Ly, Melissa Hayden and Brandon Adams were also among the notables to be turned away. To some earlier incorrect rumors, Patrik Antonius was apparently registered in the middle of the night and somehow Sully Erna found his way to a seat in the Miranda room.

As one of the 300+ who didn't get in, I'm going to try to restrain myself and not direct my current anger at Harrahs/Rio towards you in some of e-fight, but lets just say that that is a really ignorant statement. I was told several times, including as recently as 9am today, that they had not reached capacity and that I could still register, as the field would be capped at 3000 people as advertised, NOT 2700 which was the case today. This is the first time this has EVER happened in the 40 year history of the WSOP ME, and the Rio/Harrahs could not have handled the situation more poorly.

why didn't you register at 9am? or yesterday? or last week? or last month?
this is 90% the players fault and 10% Harrah's for allowing people to pick their start day imo
  10. thank god sully erna got in

If its *such* a big deal then you should have registered in advance. Sorry about your luck, but that's the risk you take by waiting until the last minute. Lesson learned huh?
  12. Yeah maybe they could've registered earlier, but if it's true that people were told the day of the tournament it would be capped at 3000 and then they change it last minute to 2700, that's pretty bad, and the casino has to hold a lot of the blame.

  13. get off jmasters dick...

sure he coulda regged earlier, but that doesnt take away from the fact that he was told by harrahs they werent at capacity.... it also doesnt change the fact that the wsop handled this situation putridly bad.

pretty sure thats the direction this thread was supposed to/should go in.

  14. Why don't they group all these overflow players together and have them join the Day 1A and Day 1B people for day 2A, so they don't get a day off, start em at like 5 or 6 and run all nite.

I guess that would be creative thinking........

  16. i think changing the cap at the last minute is unprofessional, also it's 10,000 dollars, not necessily the most liquid sum of money. I think people should be more sympathetic.

  17. That is pretty messed up for them to change everything on the fly like that, and to give false information on the phone. I'd be pretty damn mad also.

  18. I dunno, I guess I'm glad they turned them away if they're going to turn anyone away at all. It wouldn't be fair to let them in and refuse entry to randoms just because they're "name" players. Next time register sooner and not wait til the last minute imo.
  19. there is months of preregistration, you are the idiot if you do not sign up ahead of time.

edit: sorry that they told you that you had more time to register and then capped it under the amount they had previously said but you still should have registered way before right before the tourney started.

Why? - they should be treated like everyone else.

And LOL at anyone that reg'd at the last minute - my fk - reg the night before or the day before.

And it doesn't matter if Harrah's said cap would be 3k or 2.7k - early bird gets the worm.

I couldn't register until this morning, and the reason for that is no one else's business. I called the Rio poker room 4 times in the past 24 hours, the most recent time being 9am this morning, and NEVER ONCE did they say they were ultimately capping today's field at 2700 or 2800. And on their site they clearly state the cap is 3k per day. Among the 300 people who didn't get in, one flew in from Afghanistan yesterday (taking 2 helicopters and 5 different flights), one flew in from Australia yesterday, several from Israel, several from Europe, all over the world. And because of the holiday, no one was able to take money out of the bank til today, which was the biggest issue for most. Harrahs/Rio staff could have used some creative thinking/problem solving to remedy this issue, but they chose not to, and its really fucking pathetic.

  22. Odds TJ has blown the 10k he probably borrowed on the craps table at the Rio already?
  23. People saying, "Ya shoulda regged early" seriously stfu.

    edit: idiots

    so simply this
  25. "yada yada yada, you had months to pre register".

What a crock of horseshit for you guys saying that shit.

It's so much more convenient to walk up on your start day and pay your entry fee.

It's not on the players at all here ... not even the least bit, it's on Harrah's if they stated they were capping it at 3k.
  26. The point is that the tournament is going to suffer b/c of the way it has been handled. I read on another site that as many as 1000 people were turned away. They should have assigned starting days.

  27. LOL excuses excuses. The WSOP is not a spur of the moment thing, all you fools had months to figure out how to register online. Im glad they capped it and all you dopes are left out.

seriously, how dumb can you be. wait until the last minute and then whine like a baby when you don't get in. thats what you get for waiting until the last minute, better luck next time.
  29. Don't beleive everything you read, was more like 140 people. Still sucks, both sides sorta at fault here. I'm sure this will be fixed for next year.
