The tourney will not suffer at all. They will not assign starting days, its not fair to the 6000+ players that picked their day to play. Hell with the 200 idiots that are 2 stupid to register early, mabye next year when 80% of them come back they will register early.

This is the 1st time in the history of the WSOP that people were turned away from playing the main event. Let me repeat that, THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF THE WSOP THAT ANYONE WAS TURNED AWAY FROM THE MAIN EVENT.

People have waited to the last second over the years for many reasons including and not up to last second satellites, selling off pieces, convenience, procrastination to bank error.

The WSOP has the space dealers and personnel to get the overflow in the tournament; or could have communicated better their restraints.

Harrah's screwed up again. Simple as that.

Personally I think it's kind of silly they allow people to register after 3 days have been played and they know what people's stacks are like. I don't know how much of an advantage this is, or if it really matters considering you're probably just trying to make it out of day one, but could it be a possible angle shoot? I haven't played a WSOP event yet so im unaware of the advantages possibly gained here.

It's not on the players at all here ... not even the least bit, it's on Harrah's if they stated they were capping it at 3k.

Harrahs has the right to change anything they want in any tourney, which they do all the time. Like only playing 4 levels on 1a and 1b instead of 5 like posted on website. 2 years ago my tourney was turned into a 3 day instead of a 2 day tourney on a vote by the final table. I would have much rather played it out than come back another day. It completely threw off my momentum but I had to deal with it. And if you are coming from another country with 7 plane/helichopper legs do yourself a favor and pre-register. It was handled wrong though. People need to be more evenly spread out over 4 days.

To all the people saying "dumb to wait". I was in line with dozens of pple who were told don'[t worry, just come on Monday. In fact one guy in line came to buy in last night and the cage told him he could try and win a satellite and if he didn't make it just register in the am. He failed at the satellite and the got frozen out of the main at 8 am after the satellite.

This sux and there were a bunch of scenerios where they could have accomodiated us but the rather have a bunch of gamblers with ten thousand cash walking around their blackjack and dice tables pissed off.

I missed the tourney too and this was fuckin bullshit. I've never been turned down to register for any tourney before it started over the last 3 years, and for the first time to be the ME is a joke. How Harrahs didnt see this coming is pathetic, first of all the scheduling of 3 of the days on a 4th of July weekend is stupid, bc everyone is going to want to do something besides play poker on fri-sun. With that being said, they should expect a lot of people wanting to play on day 1D, I still dont know what excuse they have (even though I hung around and listened to every tourney director/harrahs dumbass representative). There was plenty of room within the Rio convention center, maybe they were short on dealers or tables but I also heard rumors that they were going to move 400-500 people to caesars and have people playing day 1 there so I dont think that was the issue. I think the biggest reason why they didnt let people in is because at 12:30, 1 person announced that registration was closed to the 400 person line outside registration, and a lot of people left. About 200 people hung around for 2 hours because we were constantly told there was still a chance (led by Captain Tom Franklin LOOOOOL). But he was threatening to sue Harrahs, so he had a pretty big mob around him and I figured to stick around too, not like I had anything better to do after driving from LA this morning. For a long time I was trying to talk to anyone with a Rio shirt and no one had a clue what was going on, and all were very unhelpful. Then at 2:30 they held a press/player conference with 2-300 people and as the guy at the podium started to announce that it was permanently closed, people started walking out of the room in disgust, and others were yelling anything they could think of. One of the Harrahs people was a particular idiot and said "it was your fault for waiting till the last minute to register". To which someone said "u guys said all along that no one would be turned down" and then they were left speechless and apologetic.

I really dont understand why another option wasnt found, players could have played from 6pm-2am (after tables opened up), we could have played 10 handed at 2-300 tables until 1 person got out (there reason for this was it would change the dynamic of the tourney from the first 3 days, but thats a joke when it would only be for a couple hours when your 300bbs deep), I would have paid to play day 2A with a 30k stack, but Im sure they wouldve had some bs excuse for that too.

Overall, this is a huge disappointment, the greatest time in my poker career was finishing 36th in last years ME and this was the first time in a long time where I was excited to play and hope to make another run. I feel terrible for the people telling me they travelled from all over the world just play in the ME and then to get turned down, and many made it clear that they wouldnt make the same mistake next year, which is terrible for the game.

Another thing that Im gonna be more pissed about is if Antonius or Sully Erna (who was behind me in line for an hour) get into the tourney. Im pretty sure Eric Lindgren got in just because he is in the POTY race (joke). F harrahs, F rio.

How can you hate on Sully? Hes a good guy.. So he used his star status to get in. You would too.. Sure Harrahs didnt handle this good but it wasnt like it was a total mystery when the Main Event was.
