1. Hmmmm... I got an idea that I thought was pretty cool.

Hows about some kind of desktop buddy (or for those with Vista, something like a gadget similar to how you get the news/ebay pop-ups) to let you know when a friend makes a final table?

I think this would be majorly cool to have some kind of system where you could list the screennames of friends at certain sites and then to get a little popup in the bottom-right of your screen saying "Attn! Johnnybax is currently at the final table of the $215 sunday 1.5 Million guaranteed on Pokerstars"...

I mean, personally, I couldn't do this but jeez I think this would be great.

  2. I like the idea a lot. I think it would be really cool but I have no idea where to even tell you to begin.
  3. I figure there are enough computer literate people on here who have an Idea of how to create some kind of basic freeware programme.

If its possible to create something as advanced as Pokertracker etc. This has to be possible.

  4. Already been done. You can get it for free.

pokerdb at bluff magazine lets you set up bufddy lists and alerts. You get emails when they cash etc and can also set it for final table alerts.

Timing of the alerts basically vraries with the quality of their data feed in (ie they come pretty quickly for FTP, not necessarily as fast for a bodog or UB.

I've got a list set - it's cool to wake up in the morning and get a bunch of emails in because your buddies cashed a bunch of torneys.

  6. Bon,

I have it set up that way too, but It would be nice to have a window that pops up and tells you. The db feeds are a little too slow for this imo. The gadget would need to use the lobby info from the actual site.

p.s. you owe me an email/PM

Ever heard of gmail notifier? pops up a little message with the header of any arriving email and makes a little beep. I'm sure there are a zillion widgets out there that do the same and also let you set filters on the notifications they give you.
