  1. Just arrived in huge Macau and since it is the worlds biggest gambling city I was hoping to find some place where I can play some Texas Hold'em. Anyone been here or know anything? The Venetian just opened here and is over twice as large as the one in Vegas, so maybe there's something there?

Plz reply quickly, going out in an hour or two!

    Thanks!

  2. I think they added tables a few months ago, but not sure where, IIRC there was an article on cardplayer written about poker in macau
  3. I've tried searching Cardplayer, but can't seem to find the article. I've found hold'em games at the New Lisboa where they offered 20/40NL (Hong Kong Dollars), 50/100NL and 100/200NL which is a little high for me. Was hoping to find a 10/20NL somewhere.

    Please help me! :-)

  6. I remember reading an article by Luco Pagano in some magazine after the APPT in Macau and he was basically saying that although its a gambler's paradise you'll be pretty hard pushed to find a poker room anywhere ---- but that was a few months ago so maybe things have picked up since the APPT.
  7. Alright, I just left Macau, and here's my report on the poker scene there.

The only place with real live Texas Hold'em was at the Grand Lisboa. A huge hotel/casino in one of the coolest buildings I have ever seen. The tower was shaped like a golden lotus flower and the bottom, a big ball inspired by faberge-eggs worked as a HUGE screen at night.

Here, they offered 4 tables before 10PM and 8 tables after 8PM. When I was playing at night, 4-6 tables were active. Most of the tables played 10/20NL, and one or two was playing higher, either 25/50NL or 50/100NL. There were lots of regulars, not very many of them Chinese. I met a swede, a german guy, a finnish guy and a dutch guy who were all staying at least a couple of weeks just to play poker there. The rest of the players were pretty weak tight although they played a lot of hands. It was standard that 5-6 people limped in (played 10-handed) and a flop bet took it down, so it was pretty tough getting payed off. LAG was absolutely the way to play. There were also usually 1-3 real big donks at the table, so all in all the game wasn't very tough to beat if you just spotted who the regulars were early.

The dealers were pretty good considering that poker has only been offered there a little more than a month. There were also some europeans overlooking the whole section making sure the dealers were doing their jobs correctly and that players didn't break the rules. Tipping the dealer was not a usual thing to do, but I did and it payed off when I rivered two straights in my last session there.

Other than at the Grand Lisboa, Star World Casino offered electronic poker tables with stakes as low as 2.5/10NL (just a little higher than US$0.5/1NL online). Playing here, you could probably see 3-4 times as many hands as at the Lisboa and there were plenty of donks. The games were almost never running but as soon as someone sat down, the table filled pretty quickly. We were three guys who sat down at the empty table saturday night and it only took 10 minutes before the table was full.

Well, I guess that's it. I ended 2400HKD up after three sessions of 3-4 hours, so I'm pretty happy. Really hope someone who is going to Macau reads this so I've helped someone!!

    Good luck all!
