  3. a 24' is a 24 is a 24 is a 24. as long as they got the same resolution just go with the cheapest one imo. so yes buy one
  4. i don't know how common this is but i don't buy anything electronic off ebay or craigslist, try places like tigerdirect or amazon even....also you're better off just doing some research to find out what will work best for you.
  5. looks good but it's 1920x1080

I have always heard x1200 (or better) is best for multi-tabling. Is this correct?

This is awful advice. I bought a Samsung 24" a couple years ago which had all sorts of issues and was broken in less than a year because Samsung is garbage. Then I bought a more expensive Dell 24" monitor and have had zero problems with it in two years. Just like I bought a 50" Vizio HDTV a few years ago and it was broken in just over a year and then I bought a more expensive Sony Bravia and have had zero problems with it. Saying all brands of electronics are the same is extremely retarded.
  8. I bought the 2 dells listed in the link last month and they work great. I would avoid off brand monitors unless you are saving a ton of money. you really rent saving much with the soyo.

off brand monitors are crap. i got a hanns G 28 inch last year and it burned out in about a year.

I bought my 24" dell on ebay like 4 years ago and its still going strong. I might have been lucky tho. Try checking keepcash.com for some good deals, u can get 24" dells now for under 200 if you catch the right time.
  10. I bought a 22 inch samsung 204b over 3 years ago and bought a 32 inch vizio for the bedroom and had no problems with either.Go figure

News to me Samsung is garbage...mine has been flawless for a few years now and Samsung receives great reviews.

As far as Samsung goes, I have had great experiences with them. This monitor in particular is different from other 24" monitors. It offers a 2048x1152 resolution, however you must have a dual link dvi cable and compatible video card. It's a beautiful monitor, and the higher resolution is hard to find in the $200 price range.

EDIT: This monitor is actually a 23" sorry, but deserves consideration imo.
  14. I got a 23" Hewkett Packard w/ 1920x1200 resolution from Wal Mart for $210, perfectly fine for 12 tabling on stars, hardly no overlap, which I think is what your looking for. Has worked fine for a couple years now, if your paying anything more, I really don't know what you'd be paying extra for.

That's right. The only ones I can find like this are the off-brands and mostly refurbs...and I just cannot afford much over $200. There are a ton of 23"-24" w/ 1920x1080 however.

  16. I see so much bad advice in this thread. 24" is not 24", there are MANY differences. First off, resolution. Just because its 24" doesn't guarantee it will be a certain resolution. Second, you should verify what connections it has. Don't get duped into buying a monitor that doesn't have a DVI connection, you will need this for higher resolution and sharper screen. Second, the brightness of the screen is very important, the higher the better. I haven't looked at screens in a while, but I believe this is the cd/m^2 rating. Also less important for poker, but if you're going to play games, the lower the response time, the better. Bottom line is you need you need to wary of these super-budget models, as they tend to totally screw you in at least one of these areas. Unless you're not planning to keep it for more than a few months, pony up for a real brand name that will likely last. Also, stay off Ebay for this type of stuff. If nothing else, check your local Craigslist, otherwise I'd be hitting Newegg, Tigerdirect, Buy.com, etc...
  17. I so agree that there is so much more out there.

You can get a Dell 24 inch monitor for as low as 189 dollars. The problem is while it does give full 1920x1200 the brightness is what makes it so cheap. I saw the GREEN 24" and the UltraSharp model ($450) side by side. The brightest setting on the GREEN Cheap model was still dimmer than the LOWEST setting on the UltraSharp. So while it saves electricity and all that jazz, I can only imagine the eye strain you'd have after a long poker session. The pixels while technically spec'd the same, also seemed more fuzzy and out of sorts on the Green vs the UltraSharp.

The dynamic ratio is so different to.. 50k : 1 vs 80k : 1 as well as the true colors 16.7 Million vs 1.6 BILLION. In essence you get what you pay for. I bought the UltraSharp because I knew it would last and it has a 3 year extendable warranty that if even ONE pixel dies, they replace the entire monitor. Had it for a year and no eyestrain, flicker, headaches. I love it.

Whatever you buy, go for quality over price anyday.
