  1. I bet no one does. Check your pokertracker database and see if you show a profit for any suited connector or low PP. If not, why do we still play them?
  2. pocket 3's is actually my 5th highest winnin hand after AA, KK, QQ and AKo lol JTs/67s/89s are up there too
  3. Make sure you're getting the right implied odds then. 12 to 1 = profitable
  4. I usually call preflop with low PPs and SCs if it costs me 5% or less of my stack, sometimes a little more if the situation is right (position vs right opponent) and if the stacks are deep. I rarely get paid bigtime with these hands though (if memory serves me right, although we have a tendancy to remember the times we are frusterated with not hitting rather than when we do hit it)
  5. If you're not getting paid off then you're playing them against the wrong players.

They are profitable against players who will stack off light, like with top pair or just overpairs.

For example you have 1000 chips and your villian has 1000 chips. Villian raises to 10 then shows you AA, you look at your cards and have 33. You know villian is never folding AA on any board and you're 8 to 1 to hit your set and getting 10 to 1 implied odds on your money. So long term it's a profitable play, especially if your disciplined to not put any more money in if you miss your set.

Also against players who aren't paying you off, this is a great opportunity to bluff them in some spots where you miss. Bluffing will make them account for a wider range and you will get paid off when you do hit.
  6. I can't say whether I make money directly, but I know for sure that I profit indirectly from playing suited connectors and small pocket pairs. I always open raise with them exactly as if I was open raising with AA or AK or whatever. If I didn't open raise with suited connectors, then it would be pretty easy to know when I am playing premium cards. So by throwing in these additional hands, it disguises my strongest hands. It's all part of a balanced preflop strategy for me.

That being said, I think I've made money off of them when played from position, as I am not shy about folding on the turn when I have a draw or some otherwise questionable hand. To be honest, I'd rather be dealt 9Ts than AK, as it's SO easy to know whether you have a strong hand on the flop with 9Ts...
  7. You have to understand that different hands and styles of play are going to be more or less effective for each individual player. Your personality plays a huge roll in what style might work best for you. You should not be looking so much at what everyone else is doing and think more along the lines of what will work for you. If you dont profit off those hands, dont play them. Maybe you need a little more experience with the game before you get too crafty.

  8. HEM shows my PP making a stack of money. All sc's are losing money,go figure.
  9. over a large sample size in deepstack games i bet its profitable

playing them with 20 BB stacks in EP is probably not profitable
